It was a cold winter night in late December. A guy in his early 20’s, with a dark haired goatee and some light blue shaded glasses that matched his long sleeved navy blue sweater that was up under his apron was sweeping around the bar that was empy when a young woman with short light brown hair, wearing overalls and a long sleeved white shirt, walked in.

“I’m sorry, but we’re closed.” said the man as he stopped sweeping and looked up at her.

“I know.. but I’m afraid I forgot my purse.” said the woman.

“I put one bedhind the bar, I bet it’s probably yours.” said the man as they stood there and took his apron off.

“So that’s why you’re here after midnight sweeping at a bar?” asked the woman as the man sat there.

They had been talking about themselves for the past two hours.

“Yeah, but it’s okay. It keeps me at home.” said the man.

“Yeah, I bet you’ve had a interesting story.” said the woman.

“Yes.. I have.” said the man as the woman looked at her watch.

“Ya know, it’s getting late.” said the woman as they both stood up and the man walked over behind the bar and pulled out a little brown purse as the woman recognized it and he walked back over to her.

“You’ll only get this back on one condition.” said the man as the woman looked shocked.

“What’s that?” asked the woman as the man clapped twice and a song came on.

“We have to dance.” said the man.

“Okay.” said the woman as the man put the purse down and they walked out to the dance floor and started to dance.

“You know you never did tell me your name.” said the woman.

“Is it important?” asked the man.

“In some cases.” said the woman.

“Well you never told me yours neither but when I found the purse, I looked inside at the liscense so I know your’s is Victoria.” said the man.

“Ohh.. and yours would be?” asked Victoria.

“You can call me Alex.” said Alex as they continued to dance out on the empty hardwood floor, with the chairs up and the lights turned way down low as they held each other and continued to dance.

A couple of months had passed and there wasn’t a doubt that Alex had found the woman for him; the one he had always dreamed about. Him and Victoria were inseperable. After she got off work every night from a computer firm, she would go to the bar, where Alex was the bartender and owner and sit and wait for the place to close so they could dance out there alone.

Then one evening, Alex was standing out on the hardwood floor after turning all the chairs up as Victoria walked in and Alex didn’t look up.

“I’m sorry, but we’re closed.” said Alex.

“It’s me.” said Victoria as she walked up to him and kissed him.

“Oh hey.” said Alex, “You’re kind of late tonight.”

“Yeah.. something went wrong at work.” said Victoria as Alex took of his apron and took the broom and sat it up next to the bar as he clapped twice for the music to come on and he walked back up to Victoria.

“I want to do something.” said Alex.

“What?” asked Victoria as Alex pulled out a little diamond ring out of the pocket of his Tommy Hilfinger shirt.

“Will you marry me?” asked Alex as Victoria started to cry and AJ brushed her long bangs out of her eyes.

“This is the last thing I expected.” said Victoria as she took his hand and walked out on the empty hardwood floor with the chairs up as she looked up at him.

“I’ll only marry you on one condition.” said Victoria as she put her arms around his neck.

“What’s that?” asked Alex as he started to smile.

“We have to dance.” said Victoria as they started to dance like no one else had ever danced before.
