Chapter 6
Chapter Six
2000Hey hey, bye bye bye
“What the hell are you listening to?” Nick asked as Jamie looked over at him, turning the TV really quickly. She smiled at him and he just looked at her, “I know you secretly like them.”
“I do not.” Jamie said as she stood up and walked slowly over to him, “I don’t like them.”
“Sure.”
“I just like that dance to the song.”
“Sure.” Nick said, as he looked down at some papers in his hand.
“What?” Jamie asked as she looked at him, “Oh come on Nick.”
“I believe you.” Nick said as he looked up smiling at her, “Ready to go home tomorrow?”
“Not really.” Jamie said as she rolled her eyes and walked over, crawling up on the bed in the hotel room, “I wish I didn’t have to go back.”
“You were only here for the weekend.” Nick said laughing a little.
“Yeah I know.” Jamie said, playing with her hair, “I think I’m going to let my hair grow out some.”
“Well.” Nick said, looking over at her, “You’ve always had it kind of shoulder length. It’d be cute.”
“Yeah, or maybe get it cut shorter.” Jamie said as Nick put the papers down and crawled up on the bed with her, leaning over to kiss her deeply, “Damn, hi.”
“Hi.” Nick whispered against her lips as he began to kiss her again and they laid back on the bed. He moved his right hand down to her hip, as he began to kiss down her neck.
“Uhh Nick.” Jamie said as she started to laugh a little, “Whatcha doing?”
“Couldn’t help it.” Nick whispered against her neck, “You looked so cute sitting there playing with your hair.”
“Well damn.” Jamie said in between giggles as Nick stopped kissing her neck and looked back up at her, “I’ve got to do that more often.”
“Yes you do.” Nick whispered as he leaned down, kissing her deeply again. Jamie began to kiss him back just as passionate and began to move her hands under his shirt, pulling it up. Nick broke away from the kiss long enough for her to pull his shirt over his head, and hew threw it across the room. He leaned back down, kissing her slowly as he his hands moved down, unfastening her jeans slowly.
He stopped kissing her long enough to pull her jeans off of her and he stood up, stepping out of his own. He crawled back up on the bed, hovering over her and she smiled back at him, leaning up to kiss him gently on the lip. Nick took a deep breath and smiled back down at her.
“What?”
“I wanna breathe you.”
“Uh huh.” Jamie said smiling as she leaned back up to kiss him.
Don’t wanna be a fool for you
Just another player in your game for two
You may hate me but it ain’t no lie
“Whoa.” Nick said as he stopped looking out the window and over at the TV, noticing that “Bye Bye Bye” by ‘N Sync were on, “That’s fucking weird.”
He looked back out the window, at the New York City streets and over at Central Park that was across from his hotel. He continued to look out the window, watching people walk around until finally he walked away from the window. He didn’t know why he was looking out the window. He didn’t know why he was sitting around acting as if his best friend had died.
Well, his best friend did kind of die or it seemed like it. She died to him because she hated him.
Nick walked over to the TV, looking down at it. There was nothing on. He walked back over to the window, looking out of it again until finally he got so aggravated he almost punched the glass, but that would have been really stupid.
Finally he walked over to his backpack, pulling out his cell phone and opened it up, dialing a number. He stood there, pacing back and forth, listening to it ring until finally someone answered.
“Hey, it’s Nick. I’m bringing the stuff back over and I need you to book me a flight and -”
He stood there listening to whoever it was on the other line and rolled his eyes.
“No, listen to me. I don’t want to go - I need to. I need you to book me a flight to LA right now.” Nick said, “I’ll be back there as soon as I can. Get the soonest flight.”
He closed his cell phone and smiled, throwing it back in his backpack.

Jamie walked into her hotel’s bar late that afternoon, looking around to see a few people in there. She walked up to the bar, and sat down on a stool until the bartender walked up to her.
“What can I get ya?”
“Umm…” Jamie said as she looked around, “Sprite.”
“Sprite?” the guy asked, surprised.
“Yeah.” Jamie said as he gave her a weird look and began to fix her drink. She sat there looking down at the top of the bar as the guy sat the glass of Sprite in front of her, “Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.”, he said as he walked over to take someone else’s order when a guy sat next to her.
Jamie looked down at her Sprite, picking it up and taking a sip as she cut her eyes over to the guy.
“Hi.”
“Hi.”
“I’m Jeff.” He said as Jamie looked over at him. He looked like a middle aged business man with dark hair.
“I’m Jamie.”
“Nice to meet you. What are you doing in here all alone?”
“To get something to drink?” Jamie asked as she looked away, “What about you?”
“The same.” Jeff said as he looked over at her, “Are you from here?”
“No. I’m from Florida.” Jamie said as she took another sip of her drink.
“Me too.”
“Which part?”
“Orlando. You?”
“Tampa.”
“Oh, I go there all of the time.” Jeff said as Jamie looked back over at him.
“Good for you.” Jamie said as she looked away. She looked over at couple that was sitting there, smiling at each other and she wished that it was her. Her and -
“So your boyfriend let you come to LA all alone?” Jeff asked as Jamie looked over at him.
“I don’t have a boyfriend.”
“You’re husband then.”
“I don’t have a husband.” Jamie said as she took another sip of her drink and looked back over at the couple.
“What? You must be joking me.” Jeff said as Jamie rolled her eyes, looking over at him.
“No, I’m not.”
“A beautiful young woman like yourself doesn’t have -”
“Listen.” Jamie said as she took another sip of her Sprite and reached down in her purse, pulling out some money and then looked at Jeff, “I don’t have a boyfriend and I don’t have a husband. I also do not need a married man.”, she said pointing at his wedding band, “hitting on me. Go try it on someone else.” With that, she walked out of the bar and back into the hotel lobby, looking around.
She crossed her arms, wondering what to do next because she didn’t want to go back to her hotel room. She finally walked over to the doors of the hotel and walked out onto the sidewalk. She took a deep breath and looked around as she began to walk down the sidewalk.
Jamie kept walking, thinking about what a fucking idiot that guy was in the bar. Then she kept thinking about how big of a fucking idiot she was, for acting like a bitch towards Nick in the airport when he was trying to be nice and reasonable. Not that she cared what he thought, but deep down she did.
She walked down the sidewalk until she saw a park bench and she sat down. She leaned back, crossing her legs to see people walking by. There were some weird people in LA and why this one guy had a blue Mohawk, she didn’t understand and probably never would. She laughed when she saw this little old woman walk by with a Kid Rock t-shirt on and then stopped laughing when she saw a woman walk by that was pregnant.
She watched her and then noticed that she was walking over towards her.
“Uh my feet are killing me.”, the lady said as she sat down beside Jamie. Jamie just looked over at her, “Hi.”
“Hi.”
“Oh, I can tell by your accent your not from around here.”, she said laughing a little.
“Florida.” Jamie said laughing a little, “When are you due?”
“November.”, the lady said, “And it’s September. I’ve got two more months to go.”
“Do you know what it’s going to be?” Jamie asked looking over at her.
“Yeah, it’s a little boy, although at first they thought it was a little girl.”, she said as she sat back, putting her hands on her stomach, “My back is killing me.”
“Isn’t it a little dangerous to be out walking around here alone?” Jamie asked as the lady looked around.
“Well I’m staying in the hotel there and I needed some exercise, so I just walked over here. It’s not that dangerous.”, she said as she laughed, “You sound like my boyfriend.”
“Sorry.” Jamie said laughing a little as she looked back at her, “Got any names picked out?”
“Yep. We do.”, she said, “Dylan Nicholas.”
“Oh.” Jamie said, as she looked away, “Well I better get going. “She said as she stood up,” Bye.”
“Bye.”, the lady said as Jamie stood up and started walking back to the hotel slowly. She moved her eyes around, trying to fight back tears until finally she started crying slowly. She reached up, wiping them away, trying to forget everything but she couldn’t and it started to make her hate Nick all over again.

“I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
“I love you more.”
“No you don’t. I love you more.”
“I love you more and more and forever.”
“I love you more and more and forever and infinity.” Jamie said as Nick rolled his eyes as they stood there, hugging each other.
“You go and use these fancy damn words on my ass.” Nick whispered as Jamie laughed. She leaned up, facing him and kissed him lightly on the lips, “I love you.”
“I love you too.” Jamie said smiling at him, “I’m going to miss you.”
“I’ll be home at the end of March.” Nick said smiling, “For like two months atleast.”
“Yes.” Jamie said smiling as she started to giggle and hugged him again, “Two whole months.”
“It’s gonna be the bomb.”
“The bomb?” Jamie asked as she started to laugh, “Nah, it’s gonna be great.”
“Definitely.”
“I can cook you dinner one night!”
“Yeah, I wanna see about this whole cooking thing of yours.” Nick said as Jamie stuck her tongue out at him and he leaned over to kiss her again, “You better get going.”
“Ugh.” Jamie said as she closed her eyes really tight, “I don’t want to.”
“Yeah yeah yeah, I know.” Nick said as he kissed her on her forehead, “You better go.”
“I suppose.” Jamie said as she opened her eyes, looking at him, “One month from now. You’re mine.”
“All yours.”
“For two months.”
“Two whole months.”
“Mine.”
“Exactly.” Nick said, smiling at her as he kissed her again, “Call me when you get home.”
“I will.” Jamie said as she kissed him again, “I love you.”
“I love you too.” Nick said, kissing her slowly again, “Bye.”
“Bye.”
“And that’s the last time we were really happy.” Nick thought, as she looked over at this old woman that was sitting next to him asleep. He rolled his eyes, looking out the window on the airplane, wishing that the flight would hurry the hell up and get to LA.
