Chapter 21

“Sam, you in here?” asked Nick.

“Yeah in the bathroom, where’s Megan?” asked Samantha.

“Outside with Bubbles, AJ, and Howie.” said Nick as he looked around to see a silver lacey bra hanging on the doorknob to her her walk-in closet and he started to laugh a little.

“Oh that damn dog.” said Samantha.

“AJ ain’t that bad.” said Nick, “You always got along before.”

“Yeah I know..” said Samantha as she walked out of the bathroom wearing a jean skirt and white top, pausing when she saw Nick standing there. They just stood there a few minutes, not saying a word, only looking at each other, “So um, what did you want to talk about?”

“Me calling the other day.” said Nick, “I’m sorry..”

“I’m sorry about Amber, but it’s not my fault Nick. I didn’t know her or anything.” said Samantha.

“She broke up with me because of you.” said Nick.

“I’m sorry Nick.. I don’t get it.” said Samantha as she walked over to put her jewerly on.

“She broke up with me because she didn’t want to play backseat to you.” said Nick as Samantha looked up, “She said after she found out about.. I guess our history, and she saw how I left that night after seeing you to come here, she knew it was over. She said she couldn’t be you.”

“She’s a model, why would she? I’m a 21 year old single mother trying to make it on her own, why would someone want to be me?” asked Samantha.

“Trying? You are Sam.” said Nick, “She also said she didn’t need anybody to take care of her.”

“Oh..” said Samantha as she looked away, “I’m sor.. no I’m not gonna say that. You have my sympathy.” as she looked back over at him.

“Yeah…” said Nick as he looked down, “I just wanted to clarify what I was talking about the other night and I’m sorry for calling you like that.”

“Well you can call me anytime you want.” said Samantha, “I mean I’m sure Megan would love to talk to you.”

“Yeah..” said Nick, “Yep.. that’s my girl.”

“Yeah…” said Samantha, “She loves you and you’ve only been around her that one day.”

“Well she’s got that much of her mama in her.” said Nick as he looked around, realizing what he said, “I better go back down there and see what the hell those two are doing… you coming down soon?”

“Yeah..” said Samantha as Nick walked out and Samantha fell back on her bed, “Uhhhhhh….. damn damn damn damn damn damn…. that damn smile uhhhhhh”

“Sammy…” said Nick as Samantha jumped up to see Nick standing in the doorway.

“Yeah?” asked Samantha.

“I forgot to tell you… we’re leaving to go back and finish the tour in a few days so this is going to be the last time that I’ll see Megan until it’s over.” said Nick.

“Oh, when is that?” asked Samantha.

“December.” said Nick.

“Oh… okay, are you going to tell her because she’s becoming so attached to you.” said Samantha.

“Yeah I’ll umm I’ll tell her before I leave today.” said Nick.

“Okay.” said Samantha as Nick looked around.

“Okay..” said Nick as he turned around and walked out.

“Well damn.. guess this two week thing I had plan ain’t gonna work.” she thought as she looked around, “Damn…”

Nick walked downstairs and out the backdoor to see Megan laying back on the grass with Bubbles licking her on the face and AJ and Howie laughing.

“Dude, that dog getting all my kisses?” asked Nick as Megan jumped up and ran over to him.

“Nick!! No, Bubbles is a good dog.” said Megan.

“Really, you think so?” asked Nick.

“Yes I do.” said Megan as Nick put her down and she took his hand, “Clouds?”

“Clouds?” asked Nick as Megan layed down on the grass and pointed up at the sky, “Clouds are pretty.”

“Umm yeah…” said Nick as he stood up looking at them.

“Nick, watch them.” said Megan as Nick got down on the grass, laying on his back, and looked up at the sky.

“Hey that one looks like D man.” said Nick laughing as he looked over at Howie.

“Funny funny..” said Howie as he looked over at AJ who was smiling.

“Dude.. you watchin’ them?” whispered AJ as he looked at Howie.

“Yeah… he’s really good with her isn’t he?” asked Howie.

“You thinkin’ what I’m thinkin?” asked AJ.

“Depends on what you’re thinking.” said Howie.

“What are you thinking?” asked AJ.

“What are you thinking?” asked Howie.

“That he should have been here all along.” said AJ.

“I agree.” said Howie as they looked back out at them and Samantha walked out the backdoor.

“Hey what’s going on?” asked Samantha.

“Nothin’…” said AJ.

“Nick said you guys were going back on tour…” said Samantha.

“Yes Nick will be home December 12.” said AJ as he looked over at her.

“Thank you.” said Samantha.

“They are so cute together.” said Howie.

“I know..” said Samantha.

“You’ve raised her right so far.” said AJ, “Now it’s time for us to fuck her up.” as Samantha looked at him, “I’m kidding…”

“Better be..” said Samantha.

“Man she’s a great little girl… you did good.” said Howie.

“Thanks.” said Samantha.

“Smart as a whip… smart.” said AJ, “And she’s got a damn good kick.. when she gets old enough, sign her up for football so she can be the kicker..” as Howie and Samantha looked at him, “Girls do it man.” as Samantha looked back out at Nick and Megan, watching them point up at the sky talking about clouds.

“It’s amazing how fast she’s taken to him.” said Samantha.

“Dude I know..” said AJ, “It’s almost like no time has past at all man.”

“Exactly..” said Howie.

“But it has..” said Samantha.

“Yeah and ya gotta make up for that. I’m sure ya ain’t had none since you got freaky in the elevator.” said AJ laughing as Samantha looked over at him, “Dude I’m only joking.”

“I swear AJ, you are still a jackass..” said Samantha laughing.

“And that means she hasn’t had any, damn no wonder you so uptight.. bet I know someone who could take care of that.” said AJ.

“I think you’re the one needin’ somethin’ damn AJ.” said Samantha laughing as she walked back in the house.

“AJ, you hittin’ on Samantha?” asked Howie.

“Hell no, just get her to thinkin’ about old times and get her and Nick together, that’s all man.” said AJ smiling.

“Uh huh..” said Howie laughing.
