“You can?” asked Madison.

“Yeah standing here watching you watching Nick. The look on your face…” said Charles as Madison look at her father and then back down at Nick.

“Yeah…” said Madison thinking of what her dad said, which confused her.

“He’s taking time up for something for Caley. That’s something none of your other boyfriends have done before. Your or Grace’s.” said Charles as Madison looked back at him.

“And I thought you were Luke’s biggest supporter.” said Madison.

“He’s a good boy, but… Nick’s proving himself to me more and more.” said Charles, “And he likes Tampa Bay, that is always a good thing.”

“Yeah…” said Madison as she started to laugh a little, “I didn’t want Caley to push her friends on him. I mean…. he’s on a little break….”

“Well.. it proves he doesn’t have a big head and that Madison, he’s doing it for you because he knew you told her no because you were trying to save him the hassle.” said Charles as Madison looked at him.

“He’s doing that down there for me?” asked Madison.

“Yeah you and he knew how much it meant to Caley I’m sure.” said Charles as Madison looked back down at Nick and smiled.

“Yeah…” said Madison.

“I’m going to go ahead and talk to you now about what I wanted to talk to you about.” said Charles.

“What?” asked Madison as she looked over the railing down at them.

“Don’t rush into anything else okay.” said Charles as Madison looked over at him.

“Like what?” asked Madison.

“I know you and Nick rushed into this marriage and I wasn’t too happy, but I can tell that you’re happy. But you’re starting your career and I’m happy for you, this is what you’ve always wanted.” said Charles.

“But…” said Madison waiting for him to say something else.

“You’re married…. don’t rush into any of the married stuff, like starting a family.” said Charles.

“You mean getting pregnant.” said Madison.

“Yes, you’re young, and now you’re married. Promise that you won’t rush into that too.” said Charles.

“I’m not, you can trust me on that.” said Madison as she looked over to see Nick showing the girls out and then Caley hugged Nick as she ran into the kitchen.

“Well.. I’m going on and see what your mother is doing.” said Charles as he walked downstairs and past Nick.

“Well they’re gone.” said Nick as he stood at the bottom of the stairs and looked up at Madison.

“You didn’t have to do that, I told Caley no.” said Madison.

“It’s okay. It’s not a big deal. Now they can go back to school Monday and brag and it’s all because of Caley.” said Nick, “It’s cool… it made her happy. Isn’t that what brother-in-laws are good for, help out family?”

“I guess so.” said Madison.

“What’s wrong, you look pale?” asked Nick as he started to walk the stairs slowly.

“Nothin… I’m fine.” said Madison, “Just a little shocked that you did that.”

“I wanted to.” said Nick as Grace walked up.

“Awww… are we having a tender moment?” asked Grace as Madison closed her eyes, biting her tongue.

“What Grace?” asked Madison as she looked over at her.

“The soundtrack is still number 4 and “Right Kind Of Wrong” is at number 3.” said Grace, “Sorry for interrupting.” as she continued to walk downstairs and into the kitchen.

“We better go on down.” said Madison as she looked over at Nick.

“Yeah…” said Nick as Madison walked downtstairs. Nick started walking behind her, watching her every move, when he tripped and rolled down the stairs, hitting his head on the wall.

“Shit.. are you okay?” asked Madison as she ran over to him.

“Uh yeah, just should have been watching where I was going.” said Nick as he stood up and looked around, “Damn…”

“Okay..” said Madison as she started to laugh and they walked into the kitchen.

Dinner had passed and it was now late that afternoon. Madison had acted weird since she watched Nick talking with Caley’s friends and Nick knew something was up but didn’t say anything about it. He thought that she was just ready to get out of the marriage and be done with it.

“Madison….” said Grace as she walked up to Madison who was standing outback, sitting on their old swingset that afternoon.

“What?” asked Madison as she was sitting there while Grace walked up to her and sat down in the swing next to her.

“What’s wrong, you seemed weird all during dinner?” asked Grace as she looked over at Madison.

“I dunno…. I’m just ready to finish my album and get it out there. It’s like I keep getting pulled back. First I got sick…. when I first got my deal and the songs that I had already recorded… they put on the soundtrack… then I had to go out and do all that stuff for that, and I couldn’t finish my album… now when I had time to do that, I get drunk and get married…. ya know my album should have been out back in September and now it’s gonna like March.” said Madison as she looked down at her ring, “Maybe it’s not mean to be.”

“What? What the hell has Nick been giving you to smoke?” asked Grace, “Hell yes it’s meant to be or you never would have gotten a deal.”

“Everything keeps holding me back.” said Madison.

“Well see that’s when you’ve gotta fight and get past it. You’re gonna be divorced in like a few weeks. You’ll never have to see Nick again after the awards.” said Grace.

“We’re friends now, we’re gonna stay friends.” said Madison.

“Well that’s cool….” said Grace.

“Yeah…” said Madison as she looked confused, “I only have a few more songs to go and I’ll be finished.”

“Exactly, you can do it.” said Grace as Madison smiled and looked back down at her ring, “You must like that ring alot.” as Madison held it up to Grace.

“I do… it’s just, it’s pretty… I’ve never seen anybody have a heart shaped engagement ring.” said Madison.

“You gonna give it back to Nick when you leave the awards?” asked Grace.

“Probably.. I’m not gonna keep it. He can go and get his money back out of it.” said Madison when they heard someone walk up. They looked back to see Mary standing there.

“What’s up mama?” asked Grace.

“Umm Madison, you have a visitor.” said Mary as Grace looked over at Madison.

“Who?” asked Madison as Mary walked back in the house.

“Uh oh… come on let’s go see.” said Grace as they got up out of the swings.

They walked to the backdoor of the house, through the kitchen and into the living room where Madison looked back at Mary.

“Where are they?” asked Madison.

“He’s outside the door.” said Mary as Madison opened the door to see Luke standing outside.

“Shit…” said Madison as she closed her eyes.

“Ohh…. I’ll just leave like ya know.. right now.” said Grace as Grace walked out and Madison stood there at the door looking at Luke, who was tall with light brown hair and wearing a University of Georgia letterman jacket.

“Well Mrs. Carter, how are you?” asked Luke.

“What are you doing here?” asked Madison as she walked outside, shutting the door behind her.

“Well I was home and I figured you would be home, because I read on your website that you were going home with your new husband for Thanksgiving.” said Luke.

“Oh hell I never go see that page, I guess I need to now to see what the hell they’re sayin’.” said Madison as she pushed her hair out of her face, “So what?”

“Well aren’t you going to introduce me?” asked Luke.

“He’s not here, he went somewhere with Jeff and my dad.” said Madison.

“Oh getting in good with the family so early. It took me a while to get on your dad’s good side.” said Luke as Madison rolled her eyes.

“Luke…. you never wanted me to be a singer, you didn’t like the idea of me going from place to place and never being in one place at one time, so what do you want?” asked Madison.

“I hadn’t seen you in a while, so I thought I’d come see you.” said Luke.

“Here I am. I look the same as I do on TV.” said Madison.

“Not really.” said Luke, “You don’t have all the make up or the little tight clothes on, not that I don’t like that…”

“Yeah okay… well it was nice seeing you again, but I’m waiting for my husband to come…..” said Madison as they pulled up and Madison looked over at them, “Oh and look here they are now as Nick, Jeff, and Charles got out of Jeff’s Tahoe and Nick looked confused. Luke said hello to Charles and Jeff and they went on in. Nick was following them until Madison grabbed his hand and pulled him back towards her.

“Nick this is Luke, Luke this is my husband Nick.” said Madison as Nick looked over at Madison wanting to laugh.

“So you are the lucky guy?” asked Luke as Nick nodded his head.

“You don’t begin to know the half of it…” said Nick as he put his arm around Madison.

“I guess I wouldn’t but since your married now, I guess you would know…” said Luke as Nick looked confused and started to say something when Madison stopped him.

“Baby.. let me tell Luke goodbye and you go on inside okay.” said Madison.

“Okay..” said Nick as he leaned over and gave her alittle kiss on the lips. Madison pulled him back up to her and started to kiss him more, leaving him look really confused, “Umm alright.. hurry up.” as he gave Luke a evil, but confused look and walked inside, shutting the door.
