Chapter 12

[Karie]

The day of the reunion.

I mean, I knew when I laid my head down to go to sleep last night that this would be the day of hell. I knew that the moment I saw Matty and his slut last night. Okay, so they seem happy, but it still burns me that he cheated on me with her even though we had such a weird relationship where he could have fucked her regardless.

Like Nick told me as we lay in bed last night… what’s done is done. It was Matty’s loss for doing that and for talking me into doing all of that crap. I’m a better person for giving all of that up.

I’m a much better person.

Nick, on the other hand, I don’t know what to say about him. I am so close to falling for him and that really scares me because it’s happening so fast. This is me, you know, the girl who has her guard up and doesn’t fall for a guy so quickly.

Last night, standing under the gazebo, when I recited the lyrics to him, I could feel my heart falling to the ground. I could feel whatever it was that he was feeling through the look he was giving me.

And that kiss that we had, as I leaned against the pillar, was by far the most passionate thing that I had ever done or been a part of in my life.

When I moved to Nashville and took the job at the newspaper, finding a guy was the last thing on my mind. Hell, two weeks ago finding a guy was the last thing on my mind. Sure, I see guys that I think are attractive and I know guys who I’ve had slight crushes on, but this thing with Nick has taken me by complete surprise.

When my boss told me to go interview the Backstreet Boys, dating one was the last thing on my mind. Yes, this may go against my journalist ethics, but I never claimed to be a fan of the group. Me being friends – or more – with Nick will never influence my reporting and journalism career.

I will never let anything jeopardize what I’ve worked so hard for.

“So what’s the plans for today?” Nick asked as he walked into the bathroom as I put a little foundation on.

“Well they have a few things going on with the reunion but I don’t care to go to them,” I said, turning around to face him. “I’m just going to the ball thingy tonight.”

“What are the other things?” he asked.

“Just some club type things, which I don’t really care about,” I said, turning around to look in the mirror again. “I’d rather spend the day with you and go get my hair done before the ball.”

“Spend the day with me?” he asked, smiling. He moved up behind me, wrapping his arms around my stomach. “What do you want to do?”

“Honestly?” I said, picking up my eye shadow brush from the counter. “I want to stay in here with you all day but we might as well make the most out of being down here.”

“What if we go to the spa?” Nick asked as I raised an eyebrow. “We can go relax, talk, and then we’ll be all refresh for tonight. We’ll leave in time for you to go get your hair done for tonight and get ready and everything. In fact, there’s a salon adjoined to the spa here.”

I nodded my head and smiled at his reflection in the mirror. “Okay,” I whispered. “Spa sounds good.”

I watched him in the mirror as he walked out of the bathroom and then looked at my reflection in the mirror. I’d never been to a spa before, much less let some stranger, man or woman, touch me for a massage.

This should be interesting.

[Nick]

I admit, as a guy, I’ve been to a spa before. Sometimes when you’re constantly performing on stage, dancing, jumping around like an idiot, going to the spa and relaxing can be the best medicine. Yeah, sitting in a steamy room with guys who are in nothing but a towel can be a bit weird, but the end results feel so good.

That’s why I want to take Karie to the spa with me.

According to Karie, she’s never been to a spa before so I assured her that I would make sure her spa virginity was taken slowly – ha!

“Nick, I’m not sure about his,” Karie said as she walked into the massage room wearing a white robe. I sat on the massage table in a robe and watched her pull her hair into a bun on top of her head. “I don’t like weird people touching me.”

“It’ll be fine, trust me,” I said as she crossed her arms across her chest. “It’ll make you feel so much more relaxed tonight.”

She nodded as two women walked into the room. I had ordered us both a customized full-body massage with different oils and as the women told us to lay face down on the table; I could tell Karie was nervous.

“We’re going to light a few aromatherapy candles if that’s okay with you,” one of the women said as I looked up from the table and nodded. I looked over at Karie who was resting her head in the table and smiled. “Just be easy on her,” I laughed. “It’s her first time.”

“Shut up, Nick,” she laughed. I laid my head back down in the table and sighed as I felt the massage oils hit my skin.

I felt the lady begin massaging my lower back and I couldn’t help but wish it were Karie massaging me. I lifted my head a little, looking over to see lying on the massage table. Her towel was low on her waist and her breasts were pressed against the massage table.

“Karie?” I asked, putting my head back in the head rest.

“Yeah?” she answered softly.

“What were you like in high school, besides, you know, the stuff you told me,” I asked, hearing her snort. “No really, tell me.”

“The hopeless romantic,” she said. “The funny fat girl, you know, the one that was friends with everybody but never really fit in with a specific group.”

“Stop calling yourself fat.”

“I’m not skinny, so what do you want to call me? Pleasantly plumped?” she asked as I sighed. I knew better than to start with her on this.

“Beautiful,” I simply said, not saying anything afterwards. I closed my eyes, enjoying the massage. The massage therapist had moved up to my shoulders and I was already so tense from the previous conversation that I had tension all over my body.

Thoughts kept running through my mind about what was going to happen when we went back to Nashville until I felt someone crawl over me, sitting on my ass.

“Uh, I don’t think this was part of the deal,” I said, feeling someone lean onto my back, whispering in my ear.

“They’re gone,” Karie whispered, pouring more massaging oil onto my back. I sighed, feeling her hands move across my back, tracing her fingertips across the tattoo I had down my spine.

I felt her hands move to my shoulders, rubbing and massaging them. I couldn’t help to moan slightly, feeling her loosen a knot of tension from my muscles. Just as I was starting to enjoy that feeling, I felt her lips against my skin, making a trail of gentle kisses up my spine.

“Karie,” I whispered, adjusting myself on the table slightly. I was getting way too turned on to lay flat on this table.

“Isn’t this massage much better?” she whispered against my skin, running her fingertips down my sides. I moaned, causing her to giggle. “Do you know how romantic this is right now?”

“Uh huh…”

“Do you know how much I want you right now?”

“Probably as much as I want you,” I said, feeling her hands move down to my lower back. “Want to know a secret?”

“Sure…”

“I’ve never had to wait to be with a girl before,” I said, feeling her hands move all the way up my back to my shoulders. “Girls usually spread their legs and flaunt themselves at me.”

“Sounds interesting,” she whispered, laying down against my back, making a trail of kisses across my shoulder blades.

“I never had to really work for it like I’m working for you,” I confessed, feeling her smile against my back.

“You don’t have to work that hard,” she whispered as I motioned for her to sit up. I lifted my head from the headrest and turned around, looking up at her. All that was between us was a towel and I knew she could feel how turned on I was. I sat up, wrapping my arms around her and couldn’t help but smile.

“I’m not going to fuck you for the first time on some oily massage table,” I whispered, causing her to giggle. “And you totally ruined our massages.”

“You like it, don’t lie,” she said, rubbing her lips against mine, teasing me with a kiss. I closed my eyes, taking the kiss in, feeling her oily hands rub my back. I could feel her moving herself over me, teasing me. “Tonight?”

“Tonight?” I asked.

“It’ll be nice,” she whispered, looking me in the eyes. “We’ll be all dressed up and kind of like doing it on prom night,” she said, causing me to laugh. “You told me that you never went to prom so you can lose you’re Karie virginity on prom night.” I laughed, shaking my head, burying it in her shoulders. “You want me.”

“I want you.”

“I want you,” she whispered, putting her hands on the side of my face. “Why? I have no idea because this whole thing has taken me by surprise but I want you, Nick Carter.”

“Tonight, you will,” I said as she smiled, climbing off of me. She peeked her head out of the door, calling for the women to come back and smiled at me.

I laid back on the table and looked down, seeing that I was starting to pitch a tent for myself and quickly rolled over.

Karie was going to be the death of me…. I’m sure of it.
