Chapter 36
Chapter Thirty - Six
“Your fiancée?” Samantha asked as Nick stood there looking at her in shock. His ex-girlfriend; the one he started dating after him and Elisabeth became just ‘friends’ and he broke up with to get back with Elisabeth. He looked down at what she had on, which wasn’t much and then back at her face, “When did you get a fiancée?”
“What the hell are you doing here?” Nick asked a he looked around and crossed his arms, “Shouldn’t you be at school or something?”. He closed his eyes, and shook his head realizing that was a wrong quote. The stupid bitch was never in school.
“I’m on Spring Break with some friends. Why are you here?” Samantha asked as she moved out of the way so someone else could walk up to the counter and looked at Nick who turned around, facing her again, “And your fiancée? What the hell Nick?”
“Elisabeth is here. She’s having to film a special with this country group -”
“Rascal Flatts, I know. A bunch of my friends are fans and they dragged me here, but your fiancée?”
“Yeah, my fiancée,” Nick said as he looked away, wanting to get the hell out of there. He didn’t feel like he had to explain anything to her and damn sure didn’t feel like it.
“Elisabeth?” Samantha asked as Nick looked back at her, “You mean you asked her, that weird girl, to marry you? What the hell are you on now Nick?” she asked as she moved her hands up, trying to look at his eyes. Nick rolled his eyes and pushed away.
“She’s not fucking weird, you just never understood her because she’s the complete opposite of you,” Nick muttered as he looked over to see two girls looking at them, “Great two fans. I’m gone,” he said as he started to walk off, going down a hallway of the hotel. Samantha stood there, looking around until she walked down the hallway following him.
“You’re like in a really good mood today,” Joe Don said as Elisabeth looked over to see him walking up beside her, on her left, “Did your boyfriend come along with you?” Elisabeth just smiled in return, “What?”
“Not my boyfriend anymore,” Elisabeth said as she held up her hand, “He’s my fiancée,”
“Damn that was quick,” Joe Don muttered as he took her hand, looking at the ring, “He spent a pretty penny on this too,” Elisabeth looked back at the ring and then took a sip of her bottled water, with a smile still on her face, “Kinda quick don’t you think?”
“We’ve known each other for a few years and dated before. We kind of just became friends for stupid reasons that I realize now,” Elisabeth said as she sat down in a chair, looking around, “I thought that when you’re in love, that it’s supposed to be romance 24/7, and somewhere along the way with him, that kind of died down, and I thought our relationship like that was over, so we agreed to just be friends. So we stayed that way, and he realized that’s not what he wanted so he came back and tried to win me back and that’s when I realized that the romance never died really, the newness just wore off,” she said as she looked down at her bottle of water.
“That was deep,” Joe Don said as he reached over for a bottle of water, and opened it up, “But I kind of understand. That’s kind of what happened with Kassidy and I, and we’re sort of getting back together,”
“Really?” Elisabeth asked as she looked back up at him.
“Yeah, you see, it comes to a point that you just feel normal with the person, and like you said, the whole fresh in love thing wears off, and it’s just kind of like blah, but you still love the person,” Joe Don said as he took a sip of his water and Elisabeth watched him, “That’s sort of what happened with us too, but I know that I still love her,”
“Yeah, I never stopped loving Nick either during all that time. He tried to move on but he couldn’t either. He went with this huge bitch and we hated each other,” Elisabeth said as she started to laugh, “His family and friends hated her. I don’t really know what he saw in her,” she said as Joe Don looked down at his watch, “Hey, what time is it?”
“Going on 4:30 now,” Joe Don said as he took another sip of water, “So when you guys get married, how are you going to make it work? I mean he’s like a pop singer, he doesn’t deal with Nashville?”
Elisabeth just shrugged her shoulders in return and began to think. She didn’t really know how they were going to make it work. She knew that they would, but she knew it was going to be hard.
“Elisabeth Geller,” Andrew said as he walked up to her Elisabeth and Joe Don. Elisabeth jumped out of her thoughts and looked at him, in a confused matter, “Someone told me they saw something,”
“What?” Joe Don asked with a confused look on his face also.
“This,” Andrew said, taking Elisabeth’s hand and looking at it, “And you weren’t going to tell me?” he asked as he leaned over, giving her a hug. Elisabeth hugged him back and gave Joe Don a really confused look, “I’m really happy for you Elisabeth,”
“Thanks,” Elisabeth said as she started to laugh a little, “He asked me a while back when he first came back and wanted to get back together, but I finally said yes last night,”
“Well it’s great,” Andrew said as he crossed his arms, smiling, “I know you two will have a happy future,”. Elisabeth smiled, looking back down at her bottle of water. She felt a little better knowing that she wasn’t the only one that had felt like she had lost the romance and had went through that whole thing with Nick. Joe Don had felt it too. Maybe that’s why he couldn’t stop talking about his girlfriend the night that they went out together. It’s because he still loved her.
She smiled, looking over at the dolphins in the aquarium as Andrew started talking to Joe Don about something, thinking about the night before with Nick. She still couldn’t believe that it actually happened. It was the next day and she remembered how everything felt. She hoped that she could remember that for the rest of her life. Of course there was going to be more opportunities to see how things felt. In fact, she wished this whole filming thing was done so she could go feel it again.
Then she laughed at herself.
“What’s so funny?” Andrew asked as him and Joe Don looked back over at her. Elisabeth started to blush and looked away, taking a sip of water, trying not to laugh anymore.
He shook his head at the thought of it.
He didn’t really understood why they couldn’t believe he was here. His manager had already told him that it was all over the internet now that him and Elisabeth were together. Anybody would know if CMT was filming a special, that she would be here. The huge stage for the concert was right out back of the hotel and they had been working on getting it set up all day long. CMT film crews were all over the place. Anybody with common sense would know it.
He took a sip of his drink, looking back out into the lobby. What he sent out to do when he went to Nashville had finally happened. He never set out to sleep with her when he came, but just to win her back, and get her to marry him. People were probably going to tell him that he was stupid and too young to know anything. He was waiting for that to come up.
“Nick,”
“What?” Nick said as he looked up to see Samantha standing there in a little red dress, “Ugh, what the hell do you want?” he asked as she pulled a chair out from the table and sat down beside him, “Did I ask you to join me?”
“I invited myself,” Samantha said as she reached over, taking a sip of his drink. She sat it back down in front of him and he pushed it back towards her, rolling his eyes, “What are you doing in here?”
“Waiting for my fiancée to come into the lobby and we’re going back to our room?” Nick asked as he looked back at Samantha, “And I would rather her not see you here with me, okay? So leave,”
“Why are you drinking?” Samantha asked as she looked at him, “Not happy?” Nick just grunted, wanting to reach over and slap the bitch, “What’s wrong Nicky?”
“Dude, I’ve been sipping on this drink for the past hour and still not finish. I’m just passing the time,” Nick said as Samantha started to laugh, “Trust me, I’m very happy. I’m not very happy that your sitting here with me right now and when Elisabeth’s sees you, you won’t be either,” he said as Samantha turned around, snapping her fingers, asking the bartender to bring them another drink, “Sam, yo, leave,”
“No,” Samantha said as she turned back around, and looked at Nick, “I’m ordering you another drink since I messed that one up,”
“Then I’ll leave,” he said as he started to get up and Samantha moved her foot under the table, causing him to stay, “God dammit,”
“Stay,” Samantha said as Nick sat back down, rolling his eyes and looking away. He knew this was going to lead to trouble. Everything with her always did.
“Oh come on, but admit it. Swimming with the dolphins was cool,” Joe Don said, “If Jay had been in there he would have tried to gone fishing or something,” he said as Elisabeth laughed at him, “He’s crazy, what can you say?”
“There’s nothing left to say,” Elisabeth said a she smiled, looking back down at her ring. Joe Don looked over at her, looking at it again and began to laugh, “What?”, she asked, looking back at him.
“You have not stopped looking at that ring all day,” Joe Don said as he laughed again. Elisabeth blushed again and looked out the window, “So when’s the big day?”
“I dunno,” Elisabeth whispered as she shrugged her shoulders, “I don’t really want to rush into it because we’ve never rushed into anything in our relationship, but I don’t know.”
“You should have the wedding on CMT,” Andrew said as the van stopped in front of the hotel and Elisabeth and Joe Don cracked up laughing, “What? I’m serious,” he said as he looked back at Elisabeth as he stepped out of the van, “Okay I was joking,”
“I know,” Elisabeth said as they all stepped out of the van and started to walk into the hotel, “So meet back downstairs at 11 tomorrow right?”
“Right, night,” Andrew said as Elisabeth told him the same. She stopped, taking her shoes off because they were about to kill her as Joe Don walked by her, telling her goodnight. She smiled, telling him goodnight as she reached over, taking her right shoe off. Hanging out with Joe Don didn’t turn out as bad as she thought it would be. She sighed after taking her shoes off and began walking through the lobby when she looked to see a familiar blonde walking out of the men’s room.
“Nick!” Elisabeth said as Nick jumped, almost stumbling over to see Elisabeth standing there, “Baby are you drunk?” she asked as she walked up to him, “Oh you’re drunk,”
“No man,” Nick said as he blinked a little, looking back at the bathroom door, “You through for the day? Come on and let’s go to the room,” he said as he took her hand and tried to pull her down the hall and she stopped when she heard her earring fall on the ground.
“Hold up, I lost my earring,” Elisabeth said as she kneeled down, picking up the back of her earring and stood back up, seeing Samantha walk out of the men’s room, “Samantha?” she asked as she stood there, looking at Samantha.
“Elisabeth,” Samantha said as she pressed her lips together before smiling and walking by Nick, telling him goodbye. Elisabeth stood there a minute, looking up at the men’s room door and back at Nick who had his arms crossed and was looking down. She stood there a minute, thinking, until Nick finally looked up, looking into her eyes.
