Chapter 15
Chapter Fifteen
I can’t believe Nick had Tim McGraw sing my all-time favorite song tonight on the show. It’s like he just took my heart and wrote ‘I love Nick’ over every single centimeter of it. I love “It’s Your Love” because both Tim and Faith perform it. Whenever I think about how he got him to sing it I want to cry.
Okay so I’ve already cried.
I’m standing here in the hallway of my apartment, trying to fix my make up so it won’t show that I’ve cried. I don’t think it’s going to work though. It’s all smeared up. He’s going to know that I’ve cried. I know that I’ve cried and furthermore my eyes are all puffy looking.
I’m so scared to walk through those doors right now. I’m standing here with my hands over my face, terrified of putting my key in the lock. I’m scared of what I’m going to do when I walk into that apartment because right now I think my heart is working over time and my brain is on permanent, or at least temporary vacation.
Well, here goes nothing.

Elisabeth opened the door of her apartment, and slid in, turning around and locking the door back. The lights were all off and it didn’t even look like Nick had been there. She walked into the living room, sitting her bag and jacket down on the sofa. She looked over to see Bunny sitting on the window still, as if nothing was going on.
Something just didn’t feel right.
The apartment had this eerie feeling about it and Elisabeth didn’t even think Nick was there. She walked over to the guest room, looking in to see that it was empty and dark. Well he wasn’t in there. The only other place he could be was upstairs in her bedroom.
Elisabeth took a deep breath, and walked over to the staircase. She began walking up the stairs slowly to see that her bedroom was dark too. She reached the top, reaching over to turn the lights on to see that it was empty. She walked in further, looking around for a note maybe, but there was nothing there.
Where the hell was he?
Then all of a sudden, she felt someone’s arms began to wrap around her waist and she turned around to see Nick, standing there smiling at her.
“I’m going to kick your ass,” Elisabeth said as Nick just grinned back at her in response. That ate her up more. “Having me run to the mall thinking that you were there. Why didn’t you just stay at the studios?”
“Well,” Nick said as he looked down and started to laugh, “I can see down your shirt like this,” he said as Elisabeth put her hand under his chin, lifting it up, “Well I knew they were having a after party and I didn’t want us to go, so I did that. Not mad at me are you?”, he asked as he started to give her a puppy dog face.
“Of course not,” Elisabeth said as she smiled, putting her arms around his neck, “You got Tim to sing my favorite song for me. I’ve never seen him perform that live.”
“I know,” Nick said as he smiled, looking away, almost blushing a little, “I knew you’d like it, so I asked him if he would perform it.” Nick said as Elisabeth smiled even more, “I just wanna show you how much I love you Elisabeth. That’s why I’m doing all of this.”
“I know how much you love me Nick, you don’t have to prove it to me for me to know that you’re the one,” Elisabeth said as she moved her hands from around his neck and sat down on the bed, looking down.
“Have you been crying?” Nick asked as he kneeled down on the floor, looking up at her, “You have, haven’t you?”
“I couldn’t help it,” Elisabeth whispered as she smiled a little at him, “It just got to me so much.” She stood up off of the bed, walking over and unzipped the boots she had on, sliding them off. Nick watched her and stood up, crossing his arms until she motioned for him to come over. He walked over to her slowly, looking in her eyes and Elisabeth smiled at him, “I want you to kiss me. I want you to kiss me and show me that you mean it.”
“Okay,” Nick whispered as he uncrossed his arms, and moved up closer to her, placing her face in the palm of his hands. He moved in slowly, looking her in the eyes, smiling a little before closing his eyes, and kissing her softly on the lips. He began to kiss her slowly until she parted her lips, and began to kiss him back.
Elisabeth moved her arms around his neck and Nick began to move his hands down her body, placing them on her hips. They started to kiss more intensely, sucking on each other’s tongues lightly, and tasting one another. It was almost as if they couldn’t kiss each other hard enough. Elisabeth moved her arms around his neck tighter, and began walking back towards the bed, bringing him along with her.
She didn’t even realize what she was doing. The next thing she knew they were laying on the bed, with Nick on top of her, kissing each other deeply. Suddenly, Nick began to move his lips away from hers, and started to kiss and suck his way down her neck. Elisabeth moved her arms around his neck tighter, holding onto him and burying her head into his shoulder.
Then she started to cry.
She tried to hide the fact that she was crying by keeping her face hiding against shoulder. It wasn’t going to work for long. Nick began kissing back up her neck slowly, kissing her cheek and then felt something wet. He opened his eyes and looked down to see her crying and almost jumped.
“What’s wrong?” Nick asked as he looked down at her. Elisabeth moved her arms from around his neck and wiped her ears dry, “Elisabeth? What’s wrong? Why are you crying? Was it something I did?”
“No,” Elisabeth whispered as she moved her hands and wrapped them back around his neck. She kept her eyes closed for a minute, trying not to cry and she opened them up, looking in his eyes, “I guess I just missed being this way with you,”
“I missed it too,” Nick whispered as he leaned down to kiss her again and Elisabeth moved her lips out of the way. Nick looked at her, and then decided he probably should move off of her because he didn’t want to force her to do something she didn’t want, “Sorry.”
“No,” Elisabeth said as she sat up, looking over at her, “Nick don’t be sorry okay?”
“I feel like I’m forcing you to get back with me and you don’t want to,” Nick said as he looked over at her. Elisabeth just stared back at him. She didn’t know what to say, “I feel like I’m just making a fool out of myself because I want us to be together again so badly, you know? Like I look like a love struck idiot who’s totally whipped and that’s not me. I just love you and I want you to be with me for the rest of my life. I know what I want and it’s you. You may not think that I’m your ‘one’ yet,” Nick said as he looked over at her, “But you, you’re my ‘one’.” Elisabeth looked at him and he looked away, and then looked down at his hands. She pressed her lips together, wanting to say something but nothing would come out. It was like someone had stolen her voice.
“I guess I should just go to bed,” Nick said as he started to move off of the bed and Elisabeth grabbed his arm. Nick looked down and over at her and she nodded her head no, “What?”
“Don’t go,” Elisabeth said as she leaned up, kissing him softly on the lips. She was about to say something else when her doorbell rang and they both snapped out of their daze and looked around, “Who the hell is here at this time?”
“I have no idea,” Nick said as him and Elisabeth climbed off of her bed, and started to walk downstairs. Elisabeth wiped her eyes dry, and ran up to her door, peeking out, “Who is it?”
Damn.
“Shh,” Elisabeth whispered as she walked up to him, putting her hand over his mouth. They both stood there as the doorbell kept ringing and Nick looked at her questionably.
Elisabeth?
“Your mother?” Nick asked as he made a face and turned around, walking away. Elisabeth rolled her eyes, walking up to the door and opened it up to see an older woman with short brown hair, looking almost like Elisabeth, but just older.
“What took you so long to open the door?” Ms. Geller asked as she walked in, and gave Elisabeth a hug. She hugged her daughter and looked over to see Nick, standing there with his arms crossed, “Oh, Nick. I didn’t realize you were still here.”
“Hey,” Nick muttered as he gave her a little wave. This was NOT in his plans and it had damn well better not mess up his plans for the next night.
“Mom what are you doing here?” Elisabeth asked as she looked at her mother and then back over at Nick who looked almost pissed off, “I mean? I’m okay. I’ve been busy.”
“Obviously,” Ms. Geller said as she walked in, putting her bags down, “I came for a visit.” Elisabeth closed her eyes, wanting to scream. Nick walked into the kitchen to get out of the room before he said something he would regret, “Why? Am I not wanted?”
“Well, I do have company,” Elisabeth said as she pointed over at Nick, “You only came because you knew he was here mom.” Her mother was nosey and whenever it concerned one of her daughters and a guy, she always wanted to know. That’s mostly why Elisabeth’s sister never told her mother a damn thing. Elisabeth tried to keep it that way, but most of the time it never worked.
“Well it’s just Nick. He’s just your friend,” Ms. Geller said when her and Elisabeth heard a dish fall in the kitchen, “Is everything okay in there Nickolas?”
“Oh it’s just dandy,” Nick muttered as Elisabeth wanted to laugh. Nick was so pissed off. Everything was holding his date with her back and her mother coming definitely didn’t make him any happier, considering the fact that they hated each other.
“Mom, Nick and I are getting back together,” Elisabeth said as Nick’s ears perked up, peeking around the corner at her and her mother, “We’re in the process of that now. That’s why Nick’s here. We’re trying to work everything out and I’m sorry but you can’t stay here this time mom.”
“You’re making me stay in a hotel?” Ms. Geller asked as they both heard Nick scream Yes! from the kitchen, “Is this so that you can have sex?” Elisabeth shut her eyes. She couldn’t believe that her mother just said that.
“Ya know mom. Maybe it is. I’m 23 and if I want to have sex with my boyfriend, then I can. I paid for the bed. If I want to break it then it’s up to me,” Elisabeth said as Nick stood there in shock, holding his hands together and began to pray to God, “Sorry mom. Just you picked a bad time to visit right now because I’m busy with Nick and I’m busy with work.”
“Well,” Ms. Geller said as she looked around the corner, in the kitchen at Nick who was peeking back at them, “I guess I wasted a four hour drive, driving up here.”
“Sorry,” Elisabeth said as she took a deep breath and looked down, “I guess I should have called you back. I was just busy with the Tim McGraw special tonight.”
“Oh I forgot about that.”
“Yeah, biggest night of my career,” Elisabeth said as she rolled her eyes. That was just like her, or her father to forget about it after she had been talking about it for weeks, “I’m sorry you wasted a trip up here but I’m tired of holding off my plans with Nick and tomorrow is his day. So maybe I can come home one weekend soon, or you can come back, but not right now. I’m sorry.”
“Okay,” Ms. Geller said as she walked over, giving her daughter a hug. She looked in the kitchen at Nick standing there against the wall with his arms crossed and began to whisper in her daughter’s ear, “Use protection honey.”
“Mom, go home,” Elisabeth said as she picked up her mother’s bag and handed it to her, “Don’t you have a boyfriend to see or someone to talk shit about my father with?”
“Actually I do,” Ms. Geller said as her and Elisabeth walked back over to the door. Elisabeth opened it up and waited for her mother to just leave, but she wouldn’t, “Nice to see you again Nickolas!”
“Bye Bye,” Nick said as he walked out from the kitchen, giving her a little wave.
“Bye sweetie,” Ms. Geller said as she turned around and started to walk out. Thank you god she was actually leaving.
“Bye mom,” Elisabeth said as she shut the door and reached up to lock it again. She turned around and looked at Nick who had a smile on his face that was as wide as Texas. Actually that was an understatement.
“We’re getting back together?” Nick asked as Elisabeth made a weird face and crossed her arms, “I mean that’s what you told her.”
“I did tell her that,” Elisabeth said as she moved away from the door, and began to walk up to him slowly, pressing her lips together, “And we will, just slowly.”
“Slowly,” Nick whispered as he smiled, “Thank you for doing that for me, because if one more thing interrupted our night tomorrow night, I think I would kill someone.” Elisabeth laughed in response to that.
“I wanna know just as bad as you wanna show me,” Elisabeth said as she wrapped her arms around his neck again, “I feel bad for telling my mom to leave, but I wanna know so badly.”
“Thank you,” Nick whispered as he held his head together with hers, “Thank you for doing that.” Elisabeth smiled in return, leaning up to kiss him on the cheek.
“You better make it worth it, do you understand me?” Elisabeth asked as she poked him in the chest, “It better be worth basically kicking my mother out of the house and taking tomorrow night off for.” Nick looked at her in surprise. He didn’t know she took the night off, “Yeah I took the night off. I was supposed to be at the Opry, broadcasting during the show while Lance was at the studios, but I asked for the night off. And it better be worth it because Lonestar was going to be on the Opry.” Nick smiled in return, biting down on his bottom lip.
