Kelsey made it back to Nashville where her and Rachel went and bought a Christmas tree and decorated her apartment for Christmas before Sharon, her mom, came up the next day to spend Christmas there. She bought presents for everybody, including Nick, who wouldn’t get his until he came for New Year’s Eve. Her label even gave her a car for Christmas since her album and videos had been doing so good.

Kelsey and Nick talked on the phone all the time, until finally Sharon would tell her to get off which pissed Kelsey off but Nick knew she needed to go spend some time with her mom. When they weren’t talking on the phone or spending time with their families, they were online e-mailing each other or chatting. Then that would get boring and they would get on the phone again. It was a continious cycle.

Nick stayed with his family and was completely bored the whole time. He’d lock himself up in a room with his cell phone or computer and sit there most of the day until he was forced to come out. He was ready for New Year’s Eve to come.

It couldn’t come fast enough.

“Kelsey.” Sharon said as she walked out of Kelsey’s kitchen to see Kelsey sitting there at her desk, on her computer.

“Yeah?” Kelsey asked as she logged out of the window she was on and turned around in her seat, “What’s up?” as Sharon sat down on the sofa.

“I felt light headed.” Sharon said, “Too much excitement the past few days.”

“Umm, not really.” Kelsey said, “I mean, yeah Christmas, but it was just us and David came by for a little bit. Rachel’s coming back from Miami today and then packing up some of her stuff and bringing it over here. You okay?”

“Yeah. I’m fine. I get like this sometimes.” Sharon said, “So did you enjoy Christmas?”

“Yeah. I liked it alot better than if we were back home. There’s nobody running in and out and people coming over just to get food, although David did that but he’s a guy and has a huge appetite.” Kelsey said laughing.

“And all you’ve done is talk on the phone and be online.” Sharon said as she looked over at Kelsey, “So are you excited about Nick coming tomorrow?”

“A little.” Kelsey said as she started to laugh and looked down.

“Do you really like him?” Sharon asked as Kelsey looked around, “You don’t have to get all shy now.”

“Ugh, I hate talking about this shit with you.”

“Watch your mouth.”

“Ugh, okay yeah I like him.” Kelsey said as she started to laugh and put her hands over her face, “I like him alot.”

“Too bad I leave in two hours or I might could meet him.” Sharon said as Kelsey looked over at her.

“I wish that you would stay and see the concert.” Kelsey said, “It’s not like you have to go home for anything.”

“I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow around lunch.” Sharon said.

“Well you can come back afterwards.”

“Too much traveling. I can’t put up with it.” Sharon said as Kelsey looked away, “I do want to see you. That’s why Rachel is going to have a copy of the show sent to me.”

“I don’t see why you can’t fly back.” Kelsey said as she looked over at Sharon, “That way you can see the show and you can meet Nick.”

“And he’s staying here right?” Sharon asked.

“Yeah.”

“Then I’m not coming back. I’ll let you have some private time with him. You need a boyfriend.”

“I need a boyfriend?” Kelsey asked as she started to laugh.

“Yes you do. You’ve got your career started now and you need someone of your own.” Sharon said, “And from what I hear about this Nick, that maybe he’s a good canidate.”

“Good canidate? He’s a perfect canidate.” Kelsey said laughing, “Just I’m taking my time with it.”

“Good.” Sharon said as Kelsey rolled her eyes looking away.

“Uh, I fucking hate moving.” Rachel thought as she stood there in the bedroom of her and Jay’s apartment, packing up some of her things so that she could move into Kelsey’s place for a little while until the divorce was final. There was really no need to get her own place now b/c she’d never be there since Kelsey would be starting the tour soon.

“Fucking dust. Bastard didn’t clean while I was away.” Rachel bitched when her cell phone rung and she reached over picking it up, “What?”

“Hi.”

“Who’s this?”

“Nick.”

“Oh.” Rachel said, “Yes Carter, how may I help you?”

“Think Kelsey would be mad if I came today?” Nick asked as Rachel looked around, “Because -”

“Because what?”

“Well I’m kinda sitting at the airport now getting ready to take a flight. I’m so ready to get out of here and get there. So you think she’d be mad?” Nick asked as Rachel sat down on the edge of the bed and looked down.

“Would she be mad? No.” Rachel said as Nick started to laugh, “But.”

“But what?”

“I’m getting a divorce so I’m going to be staying with Kelsey, I hope that’s not a pro -”

“Problem? Nah.” Nick said, “We’re not like that. You can still be there. I’m going because I want to hang out with her and to see the show. I’m not coming to get her in bed. I really don’t think I have to work at that, but I’m not out for that.”

“Never said you were.” Rachel said as she looked up, and over at the clock.

“Good.” Nick said, “So I think I’ll be there about 7 your time.”

“Alright, her mom is leaving soon I think. Too bad you won’t get to meet her.”

“There’s other times.”

“Yeah but -”

“Like I said, there’s other times.” Nick said as Rachel smiled a little, “I’ll see ya later.”

“Alright, bye.” Rachel said as she hung up and sat her cell phone down, “Now how the hell did that punk get my cell number?”

“Alright, now you do good at this concert okay?” Sharon said at the airport as her and Kelsey stood there at her gate.

“I will.” Kelsey said as she hugged her.

“And you have fun while Nick’s here.”

“I will.”

“Have all the fun you want.”

“Good god mama.” Kelsey said as she stopped hugging her and started laughing, “Stop pushing.”

“I just want you to have a boyfriend before I die.” Sharon said as Kelsey rolled her eyes.

“Oh pulease. You’re gonna be around a long time to see me get old and crap and have face lifts like Dolly Pardon.” Kelsey said as Sharon started to laugh, “Anyway, I don’t think Nick’s that far from being my boyfriend.”

“Good, I just want you to be happy.” Sharon said as Kelsey rolled her eyes again.

“And I am.” Kelsey said, “Except you can’t come back to see the show and to meet Nick.”

“We’ll see.” Sharon said as they called her flight and they hugged again, “I love you.”

“Love you too.” Kelsey said as they stopped hugging, “Call me when you get home.”

“Okay.” Sharon said as she turned around so that she could go board her flight. Kelsey stood there watching her until she couldn’t see her anymore and then she walked back over and sat down in a chair.

She sat there thinking about what her mom said. She looked over to see this couple sit down with a little baby in a carrier and watched them until she went into a daze thinking until her cell phone rung and she picked it up.

“Hello?”

“Hey, where ya at?” Rachel asked.

“Oh at the airport. My mom just left. I was just sitting here before I left.” Kelsey said as she looked down at her nails, “What’s up?”

“I just came over to the apartment. David helped me bring some of my stuff over here.” Rachel said as she looked at the clock, “I tell ya what.”

“What?” Kelsey asked.

“Why don’t you just sit there in the airport for a little while. Go to the front of the airport and sit.” Rachel said as Kelsey looked confused.

“Why?” Kelsey asked as she started to laugh.

“Because, I mean ya never know. Might get a story idea. Lemme go.”

“Hmm okay.”

“See ya later.”

“Bye.” Kelsey said as she turned her cell phone off and stood up, walking through the airport slowly, looking around. She finally reached the front of the airport and sat down in a chair with her knees curled up under her, “What the fuck is this girl wanting me to sit here for?”

“Why’d you tell her to stay there?” David asked as he picked up a box to take into the extra bedroom.

“Cuz, Nick’s coming today and he’ll be there within the next hour.” Rachel said as David started to laugh.

“Coming two days early before New Year’s Eve? Yeah, somethings gonna happen with those two.” David said as Rachel laughed.

Kelsey sat there and people watched for most of the hour. She got asked for an autograph by some girl that recognized her and then she sat down and had a conversastion with her for 30 minutes about Backstreet Boys. The girl was 14, so mentally, her and Kelsey had a lovely conversastion about how Jive Records suck, ‘N Sync can go to hell, and Britney was a slut.

After the girl left Kelsey got up to get something to drink and then sat back down, looking around. She saw some guy who kept looking at her and it kind of freaked her out. He sat down in one of the other seats across from her and kept looking up at her. Kelsey started feeling uncomfortable when -

“Kelsey?”

“Huh?” Kelsey asked as she looked up to see Nick standing there, “Yo, what are you doing here?”

“Uh, what are you doing here?” Nick asked as he looked around and walked up to her, “Dude, I was suppose to suprise you.”

“My mom left to go home and I just stayed here. Then Rachel told me to stay.” Kelsey said, “You were suppose to come tomorrow.”

“Yeah I know.” Nick said, “But well plans change.” as he started to smile.

“Well damn, you just barely missed my mom.”

“That sucks. Another time. So I guess I don’t need a cab or nothing now.” Nick said as Kelsey started to laugh.

“I shall escorte you.” Kelsey said in a fake British accent as she started to walk out of the airport while Nick held his bags, walking behind her.

“Oh really?” Nick asked as he looked around to see two girls notice him, “Shit, should have worn the hat. Hurry up Kelsey.”

“Don’t rush your driver.” Kelsey said as Nick looked around, “This is my car.”

“BMW? A two door icy blue BMW? Nice.” Kelsey said, “It’s the car I told you about the other day that the label gave me.”

“Oh yeah.” Nick said as he put his bags in the trunk and then opened the door to get in the passanger seat, “It’s nice.”

“Better than what I had before.”

“What did ya have before?”

“Didn’t have a car.” Kelsey said as Nick started to laugh, “I can’t believe you came today.”

“I just decided to come and suprise you but well didn’t get to.” Nick said as Kelsey laughed a little and looked over at him as she pulled out of the parking lot, “So miss me?”

“I just talked to you online like hmm 5 hours ago?” Kelsey asked as Nick started to laugh, “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Suprise.”

“Yeah well I don’t like suprises.”

“Oh come on, you know you like this suprise.” Nick said as he did a big cheesy grin.

“Oh blah. So you know Rachel is staying there.”

“Yes ma’am I am aware of that information.”

“Okay smartass.”

“You like my ass.”

“Oh shut up.” Kelsey said as Nick started to laugh, “So are you excited for your very first country concert?”

“Huh? I’m going to a country concert? When the fuck did I say that?” Nick asked as Kelsey rolled her eyes.

“You’re coming to the show right?”

“Right.”

“It’s country.”

“Ohhh now see.” Nick said as he held his finger up, “I didn’t comprehend that part.”

“Oh really? Well it is.”

“I was just going to see you strut your stuff across the stage. Might turn me on.”

“Uh huh.” Kelsey said as she looked over to her left, rolling her eyes.

“I’m joking by the way.” Nick said as Kelsey smiled and looked over at him, “I know none of that stuff. Rachel’s there. Not that I care. I’m waiting for marriage.”

“Yeah right.” Kelsey said as she cracked up laughing and almost ran a redlight, “Damn that’s funny.”

“Okay maybe I’m lying, but I’m a good boy.” Nick said as Kelsey shook her head, ignoring him.
