Kelsey sat there in the corner of the recording studio the next day, biting on the top of her pen, as she read over the lyrics she had just finished writing. She smiled as she started back reading them, singing them in her head when Rachel walked up to her.

“What’s that?”

“Oh.” Kelsey said as she jumped, “Song I wrote.”

“Oh, one you started last night with Nick?” Rachel asked as she squatted down looking at her.

“Oh no, this one I did alone.” Kelsey said, “Nick helped me finish that one about the personal ad thing.”

“Oh.” Rachel said as she looked around and then sat down beside her, handing her a bag from McDonald’s, “Here’s lunch.”

“Oh, damn thanks.” Kelsey said as she put the notepad down, “You can see if you want to.”

“Okay.” Rachel said as she picked up the notepad, reading over the lyrics, “Damn.”

“What?”

“That’s deep.”

“Well damn, what do you expect?” Kelsey asked, “You come opening the door last night. That was a damn nice kiss.”

“Well excuse me.” Rachel said laughing, “Is this kissing thing becoming more and more?”

“I like kissing him. I don’t know why, but like I could stand there for hours kissing him and be happy.” Kelsey said as she put a few fries in her mouth, “I told him.”

“Told him what?”

“Well we were talking about ourselves.” Kelsey said, “And our past relationships and, well I told him I was raped.”

“Do what?!?!”

“Uh yeah.”

“Did you tell him who?”

“No. No.” Kelsey said as she nodded her head no, “No.”

“You better not. I mean, I can Nick really likes you and if he found out -”

“Yeah I know what you mean. Trust me I do.” Kelsey said as she took her burger out, unwrapping it, “But I told him and he was in shock but he understood. He’s like not the type to push you into anything. I can tell that.”

“And he’s really coming New Year’s Eve?”

“He says he is. I told him I have the show with Tim and all and he said he didn’t care, he was coming.” Kelsey said, “Maybe my mom will still be there and they can meet.”

“Oh meeting family now?”

“Well it’s just my mom. She’s the only family I have.” Kelsey said as Rachel nodded her head agreeing with her.

“I talked to her last night.” Rachel said, “She can’t wait until Christmas.”

“I want her to come to Nashville.” Kelsey said, looking over at Rachel, “I don’t want to go home. I can’t stand my so called family. I want it to be me and mama. That’s it.”

“I’m sure she will if that’s what you want.” Rachel said, “So where did you and Nick go last night?”

“Some little diner not far from the hotel. We walked.” Kelsey said laughing, “We just sat there talking. Then we finished the song and I started that one alone and talked more. Then we left, walked around and talked and then came back into the hotel and went to sleep. I like talking to him. He’s flirty as hell but he’s funny.”

“You’re a flirt too.”

“I know.”

“Good.” Rachel said laughing.

“I don’t mean to be a flirt, it just happends.”

“Yeah.” Rachel said laughing, “Yeah right.”

“Nick’s all up in love.” AJ mumbled over at Howie who laughed at him. Nick just cut his eyes over at AJ ignoring him, “What?”

“Shut up.”

“Well you are.” AJ said, “I had a long interesting conversastion with David last night about Kelsey.”

“And?” Nick asked as he looked over at him, “We’re supposed to be working here ya know?”

“Oh all about her. He hasn’t known her all her life but about as long as Rachel has.” AJ said, “He said she’s never had a boyfriend since he’s known her.”

“I knew that.” Nick said, “Can we work now?”

“What are you two discussing?” Brian asked, walking up to them.

“AJ was being nosey with Kelsey’s guard last night.” Nick said, “He needs to keep his nose out of her business.”

“Oh, takin’ up for his woman.” AJ said, “Much like a man in love.”

“You callin’ Nicky a man?” Howie asked as Nick looked over at Brian.

“Can I please slap the hell out of these two?” Nick asked as Brian smiled.

“Nah, I will.” Brian said as he hit them both upside the head, “Ya’ll leave Nick alone.”

“But I love messing with me.” AJ said as he ran his hand over the back of his head.

“Well I said leave him alone.” Kevin said as Nick looked up at the ceiling.

“God bless KFC.”

“Huh?” Howie asked as he looked over at Nick.

“KFC. Kentucky’s Finest Cousins.” Nick said as Howie and AJ cracked up laughing while Kevin and Brian just shook their heads at them.

“I’m so tired.” Kelsey said that night as her, Rachel, and David walked off of the elevator, “I just want to go to sleep but, damn I bet Nick isn’t back yet.”

“It’s going on 11 o’clock.” Rachel said as Kelsey dragged herself down the hallway, “You need to go in and pack -”

“I bet her ass don’t pack tonight.” David said, “Look, she’s sleep walking.”

“Blah.” Kelsey said, “Damn.”

“Dave, unlock the door so the baby can go to sleep. She stayed up too late last night and got up too early.” Rachel said as David unlocked the door as Kelsey leaned up against the wall closing her eyes, “And you get your ass in your room and go to sleep. I’m not going to have a little ill bitch sitting next to me on a plane almost across the whole country.”

“I love you too Rach.” Kelsey said as David unlocked the door and they all walked in.

“Go to bed.”

“If Nick comes by, tell him I’ll see him in the morning before I leave.” Kelsey said as she yawned again.

“Fine, fine go to bed.” Rachel said as Kelsey smiled a little, walking into her bedroom.

“Where you going?” Kevin asked a little bit later as the guys were getting back to the hotel and going to their rooms.

“Kelsey, see if she’s asleep. We worked so damn late.” Nick said as Kevin rolled his eyes, walking into his room. Nick knocked up on the door once. He stood there yawning himself and then looked around. He looked back up at the door and knocked again until he heard someone unlocking the door and cracking it open.

“Hey.” Rachel said, “Kelsey’s asleep. She was about to fall asleep before we even got back to the room.”

“Yeah, it’s late. I know you’re leaving in the morning -”

“Yeah. Don’t worry. I’ll make sure you two see each other. I don’t think I have to. I’m sure she will.” Rachel said as Nick smiled a little.

“Okay. See ya in the morning.” Nick said.

“Night.” Rachel said as she started to shut the door back. Nick sighed as he turned back around and started to go back to his room when he heard someone laughing. He turned back around to see AJ’s door shut back really quick.

“That ass.”

“Rachel!!!” Kelsey called out from her room as she was trying to button up her shirt.

“Yeeeees dear?” Rachel called out from the living room, drinking her cup of coffee.

“How much time ’til we have to leave?” Kelsey asked as Rachel laughed a little.

“20 minutes.” Rachel said, “Hurry up.”

“I’m hurrying god dammit.” Kelsey said as she tried to put on her jeans and almost fell over on the floor.

“I hear you bouncing around in there.”

“Oh for the love of God shut up woman.” Kelsey said when there was a knock on the door and Rachel looked over at it, “Get the door!”

“Yes ma’am.” Rachel said laughing as she got up and looked out the door to see David, “It ain’t who you’re looking for.”

“Shit.” Kelsey yelled out from her room as Rachel opened the door for David.

“Loose your key?” Rachel asked as David shook his head no and walked in, with Nick following behind him, “Oh found a lost puppy.”

“Oh shut up.” Nick said, “Kelsey up?”

“Yeah, we’ve gotta leave in 20 minutes.” Rachel said as Nick walked over to Kelsey’s door, opening it up to see her standing there trying to put her shoes on.

“Rachel you lied!” Kelsey yelled as Nick shut the door and Kelsey heard Rachel mumble something from the other room, “Hey, sorry ’bout last night.”

“Oh no, it’s cool. We worked late too.” Nick said as he looked at as she stood up straight, looking at him, “Look nice today.”

“Uh you don’t have to lie. I look like shit.” Kelsey said as she fixed her ponytail, “I feel like shit and I look like shit.” as Nick walked up closer to her.

“Don’t smell like shit.”

“That’s only because I just took a shower.”

“Well damn.” Nick whispered as Kelsey started to laugh and looked at him, “So remember -”

“What?” Kelsey whispered as Nick looked around and looked back at her.

“I’ll be there New Year’s Eve. Without a doubt. Maybe the day before.”

“Better get yourself a hotel room.” Kelsey said as Nick looked at her, “Okay, I’m sure you can sleep on the sofa.”

“Yeah, I’ll take the sofa over a hotel room.” Nick said laughing a little as Kelsey smiled, “But I’ll be there.”

“Is this like our 2nd official date? Although I have to work?” Kelsey asked as Nick looked around.

“Yes, our 2nd official date.”

“Sweet.”

13 minutes!

“Ugh.” Kelsey said as Nick started to laugh and he leaned over kissing her lightly, “I better finish packing really quick.”

“Okay, well I’m gonna run back over to my room and I’ll see ya before you leave okay? We’re leaving in a little bit too.”

“Okay.” Kelsey said smiling as Nick smiled, and turned around, walking out of her room. Kelsey stood there smiling around until she giggled and tried to finish packing.

“Leaving so soon?” Rachel asked as Nick looked back at her and smiled.

“Nah, she’s gotta finish packing. I’m leaving soon too.” Nick said as he looked over at them, “So will you two be in Nashville for New Years Eve?”

“Um yes, why?” Rachel asked.

“Oh cuz I guess I’ll see you guys then.” Nick said as David moved the paper he was reading and looked at Nick.

“Oh here we go.” David said as he moved the paper up so that he could go back to reading it.

“Oh shut up man. For real, I’m going to go and see the show and all that.” Nick said, “So -”

“And where will you be staying?” Rachel asked as Nick looked around with a little smirk on his face.

“Kelsey’s?”

“Uh huh.”

“Uh huh.” Nick said laughing a little as he walked over closer to the door, “I need to get over to my room and finish packing, so I’ll see ya in a few.” as he turned around and walked out the door, shutting it.

“Interesting.” Rachel said as she looked over at David who looked over the newspaper at her.

“To say the least.” David said as he looked at his watch, “Six minutes”

“Kelsey!” Rachel said as Kelsey walked out of her room with her bags in her hands.

“Damn I’m here.” Kelsey said, “Six minutes? Okay let’s go.”

“Yes ma’am.” David said as he stood up, folding the newspaper as he walked over, taking the bags outside so that the bellboy could take them downstairs.

“Okay.” Rachel said as she picked up her purse and carry on bag, “Let’s get going.”

“Fine with me.” Kelsey said as she looked around and they both walked out the door to see Nick standing there, “Hey.”

“Well hey.” Nick said as Rachel rolled her eyes.

“You act like you haven’t seen each other this morning.” Rachel said as she walked down to where David was and Kelsey smiled and walked up to Nick.

“I really don’t want to leave.” Kelsey said laughing, “But I’m ready to go home.”

“Yeah me too.” Nick said.

“Well not home, but my home. Blah I’m a moron.” Kelsey said as Rachel cleared her throat.

“Well, I’ll call you okay?” Nick said as Kelsey nodded her head yeah, smiling at him, “And you’ve got my number.”

“Yeah and your e-mail.” Kelsey said as Nick started to laugh, “I’ll see ya New Year’s Eve.”

“Okay.” Nick said as he looked down at Rachel and David who was looking at them and turned there heads.

“Are they looking?” Kelsey whispered as Nick shook his head no, leaning down to give her a little kiss.

“See ya later.”

“Okay.” Kelsey said as she stood there looking around, “I don’t wanna leave.”

“Bye Kelsey.” Nick said as Kelsey started to laugh, leaning up to give him a quick kiss.

“Bye.” Kelsey said as she smiled and turned around, walking down to the elevator which David was holding open for her. She looked back down at Nick one last time before she stepped into the elevator and the doors closed.

“Well.” Kevin said clapping his hands as Nick looked over his left shoulder at them and closed his eyes, “Isn’t that sweet.”

“Where’s my tissue?” AJ asked as he reached over, hitting his fist in Howie’s chest.

“I’m ready to get out of this joint.” Nick said as he walked into his room, shutting the door while the others laughed.
