“Watcha writing over there?” Nick asked two hours later as Kelsey sat there, pressing her lips together, writing in her notepad a mile a minute. She just sat there writing, not paying Nick any attention until finally he cleared his throat and she looked over at him, “Whatcha writing?

“Oh um a song.” Kelsey said as she smiled.

“Can I see?”

“Nah.” Kelsey said smiling again as she closed her notepad, reaching over to stick it back in her little backpack.

“Why not?”

“Just because.”

“Writing me a love letter?”

“In your dreams.”

“Every night.” Nick said as Kelsey cut her eyes back over at him, “So talk to me.”

“That’s what I’m doing.”

“Well there’s things I don’t know about you.”

“Okay, shoot then. Ask me whatever you want.”

“So you wrote all these love songs on your CD.”

“Yeah…”

“And you don’t have a boyfriend.”

“And your point would be?” Kelsey asked as she turend her head, looking over at him.

“Have you ever really had one?” Nick asked as Kelsey rolled her eyes.

“Yeah, when I was younger, before I left home. It lasted a whole umm two months I think. Then he cheated on me, like I told you before that it happened to me before, “I dated and stuff but that was the only real boyfriend.”

“Oh.” Nick said as she looked down.

“What else you wanna know?”

“You ever did it?”

“Did what?”

“You know.”

“Have sex?”

“Yeah.”

“No comment.” Kelsey said as she put her arms around her knees and looked over at him.

“No comment?” Nick asked, “Don’t be taking my lines.”

“Are you?”

“No. You?”

“No comment.”

“Oh come on Kelsey.” Nick said laughing, “It’s a yes or no question.”

“And I gave you a no comment answer.” Kelsey said, “That’s for me and my next potential sex partner to know.”

“Next potential?”

“Oh shut up.”

“Oh come on. Just tell me.” Nick said, “Not like I’m gonna run and tell Rachel and get you in trouble.”

“Rachel knows.” Kelsey said as she looked back over at Nick, “She knows everything about me almost.”

“Then what?” Nick asked, “Ashamed?”

“Actually yeah.” Kelsey said, “I’m not telling you. Not yet. If our relationship goes futher, then yeah. I’ll tell you, but I’m not telling you. Only one person knows and that’s Rachel”

“Okay, didn’t mean to bring up a touchy subject.” Nick said as he leaned back, looking down at the table and looked back up at her, “You mad at me?”

“No.” Kelsey said as she looked away.

“Yeah you are.”

“No, I’m not.”

“You’re pissed at me.”

“I’m not pissed at you.”

“Yeah you are.” Nick said as Kelsey got up on her knees, leaning over the table to give him a little kiss on the lips.

“I’m not pissed at you. There.”

“I owe you one now.”

“Oh good god.” Kelsey said as she moved and sat back down like she was before, “I’m not mad.”

“You don’t trust me.”

“I do. If I didn’t, you wouldn’t have stayed with me last night.”

“Then why don’t you tell me.”

“I was raped.”

“Huh?”

“There, there’s your answer. Now, can like we have some cake or something?”

“Cake?” Nick asked with a confused look on his face, “Let’s go back to this raped thing.”

“I’m wanting cake now.”

“Sweet, order some cake, but about this -”

“I don’t wanna talk about it.” Kelsey said, “You got your answer and there you go.”

“Uh, well -”

“I don’t wanna talk about it or I will get pissed.” Kelsey said.

“Okay.” Nick said as he looked around and back over at Kelsey with the same confused look on his face, “You sure you don’t want to talk about it?”

“Pretty sure.”

“Okay. Sorry I asked. I didn’t expect that answer.” Nick said as he looked out the window.

“It’s okay.” Kelsey whispered as she picked up her drink, taking a sip.

“Is that why you haven’t had a boyfriend?”

“Partially. I didn’t wanna have.. have sex after that and that’s what a guy expects. Plus I had my mind on singing so it really didn’t matter much.”

“Was it that guy that cheated on you?”

“No. That’s the reason he cheated.” Kelsey said as she started to laugh, “I wouldn’t do anything with him.”

“Who was it then?” Nick asked as Kelsey took a deep breath, “You don’t have to tell me. Not like I know them.”

“Never know. It’s a small world.” Kelsey said as she looked over at him.

“Huh? I do?”

“Never said that. I just said it’s a small world.” Kelsey said as she looked back down.

“Well I do know it wasn’t me.” Nick said laughing a little, “Well damn, I mean, that was a long time ago.”

“September 5, 1997.”

“A long time ago.”

“Yeah.” Kelsey said as she looked back over at him, “You ready to go?”

“Sure. Come on.” Nick said as they both started to get up from the booth to go.

“It’s one a.m.” Rachel said outloud as she sat there on the sofa in the living room watching TV. Every other minute she would look down at her watch and then at the door, “And she’s not back.”

Ring Ring

“Hello?”

“Heard from Nick?”

“Nope, you?”

“Went over to the room. No answer.” Kevin said as Brian shook his head and smiled.

“Maybe he’s over in Kelsey’s room.” Brian said laughing a little.

“I dunno.” Kevin said, “It’s late. I’m not going over there to find out.”

“Me either.” Brian said, “He’ll be here in the morning.”

“He damn well better be.” Kevin said as Brian laughed.

“So you ready to go home?” Nick asked a little bit later as him and Kelsey were walking around outside the hotel.

“Kinda.” Kelsey said, “I’ve got some Christmas shopping to do.”

“Watcha gonna get your mom?”

“No idea.”

“Get her something really nice.”

“I will.” Kelsey said laughing a little, “Why any ideas? You don’t even know her.”

“Yeah I know I don’t. I know what ya told me though.”

“That she has Cancer? That’s not alot.” Kelsey said laughing a little.

“So like it’s just your mom?”

“Yeah, she raised me alone basically since I was like 2.” Kelsey said, “Her and my dad got a divorced, he remarried and then died. I never had much to do with him.”

“Damn.”

“Of course he didn’t care about me. He would always get my birthday mixed up with their anniversary.” Kelsey said, “I don’t care though. So you ready to go home?”

“Not going home. I dunno where I’m going. Somewhere with my family. I have no idea where though.” Nick said as Kelsey laughed a little, “I just go where I’m told.”

“Same with me.”

“I should start going where I want to though.”

“It can be your new year’s resolution.” Kelsey said laughing a little as Nick shrugged his shoulders.

“Maybe, but I might start it before new years. I dunno.” Nick said as he looked down at his watch, “Fuck it’s 3.”

“Shit. Don’t you have to leave at like 6 or something?” Kelsey asked as Nick rolled his eyes.

“Shit, something like that. Come on, let’s go on in the hotel.” Nick said as they reached the front door and started to walk into the hotel, “Damn I’m gonna be a bitch tomorrow.”

“Me too.” Kelsey said as they walked past the front desk and went to the elevators, “I bet Rachel’s still awake.”

“Damn she is like your mom.” Nick said laughing, “Think I have to ask her permission next to I ask you out?”

“You gonna ask me out again?” Kelsey asked as she looked at him while the elevator doors opened and she walked in.

“Hmm maybe.” Nick said as he walked in behind her and hit their floor number while the doors closed.

“Yeah but like we won’t see each other much.” Kelsey said.

“Dunno bout that.” Nick said, “Never know what can happen or who can just pop up unexpectidly.”

“Oh really?”

“Really. What are you doing New Years’ Eve?” Nick asked as he looked over at her.

“Are you asking me out?” Kelsey asked as she smiled a little.

“Maybe.”

“I have a concert.” Kelsey said laughing, “So basically I have to work.”

“At midnight?”

“No, see like Tim McGraw always has this New Year’s Eve concert in Nashville and I’m one of the opening acts. So after that I’m free.”

“Sweet.”

“Sweet?”

“I’ll be there.”

“Yeah.” Kelsey said as she rolled her eyes.

“You don’t believe me do you?” Nick asked as Kelsey looked back over at him.

“Nope, I don’t believe you.” Kelsey said as Nick laughed.

“I’ll be there. I promise.” Nick said as Kelsey rolled her eyes, looking at the wall of the elevator, “You really don’t believe me.”

“I really don’t.”

“I’ll be there.” Nick said as she looked back at him, “Just gimme your address.”

“Didn’t say I was going to let you come to my place.”

“Why? Gotta take down your supa fly Nick Carter poster above your bed?”

“No, my Brian one.” Kelsey said as she smiled when the elevator doors opened and she walked out.

“Oh you tried me.” Nick said laughing as he followed her out and she walked up to her suite door, “So you gotta work tomorrow?”

“Yep, until tomorrow night.” Kelsey said, “So I can leave the next morning.”

“Us too.” Nick said as Kelsey leaned up against the door, looking at him, “So I guess I’ll see ya then.”

“Promise?” Kelsey asked as Nick nodded his head yes.

“Yeah, I promise.” Nick said as he leaned over, kissing her slowly. Kelsey began to kiss him back the same way when all of a sudden the suite door opened and Kelsey almost fell back but caught herself.

“Oh damn.” Rachel said, “My bad. I was coming to see if David came back.”

“Uh, no.” Kelsey said as she looked at Nick.

“Uh well okay. Sorry.” Rachel said as she shut the door back and both Nick and Kelsey started to laugh a little.

“Damn.” Nick said as he looked around, wanting to laugh.

“Well, I’ll see you tomorrow night. We can hang out a little while, although I’m sure we’ll both be really tired.” Kelsey said as Nick nodded his head a little.

“Yeah.” Nick said, “Sweet dreams.”

“You too.” Kelsey said as she turned around and opened the door to the suite, walking in as Nick stood there looking around.

“Almost 3:30 in the morning.” Rachel said as Kelsey shut the suite door looking over at her.

“Didn’t realize it was this late.” Kelsey said as she unzipped her little hooded jacket and kicked her shoes off.

“Have a good time?” Rachel asked as Kelsey smiled.

“Yeah, we wrote a song and I started another one. The one I had the idea about today.” Kelsey said, “He says he’s coming to see me New Year’s Eve.”

“Really?” Rachel asked.

“Uh huh. I’m going to bed. I’ll see ya in the morning.” Kelsey said smiling as she walked into her room, shutting the door.

“Well then.” Rachel said as she turned the TV off and looked around, “Maybe AJ will win that bet.”
