“Well.” Rachel said that night when her and Kelsey came back from the studio, “It’s already 9:30.”

“Damn.” Kelsey said as she walked into her room, throwing her back pack down beside her bed, “I don’t like how that shit turned out today.”

“Well you can work on it tomorrow.” Rachel said when she sat down on the sofa, turning the TV on.

Knock knock

“Oh damn.” Kelsey said as she looked over at Rachel who just sat there laughing, “He’s got like a magnetic device on me. I swear he does.”

“Go get the door.”

“Damn.” Kelsey mumbled as she walked over, looking out the peephole to see Nick standing there, “Ugh it’s him.”

I heard that Kelsey.

“Ugh.” Kelsey said moaned as she opened the door for him, “Hello sleep over boy. Did you bring your coloring book and crayons?”

“Nope. I brought body paint.” Nick said as he walked in and Rachel laughed.

“Oh, now that’s definetly in your dreams.” Kelsey said as she shut and locked the door back.

“I got all kind of colors too.” Nick said with a cheesy grin as he sat down on the other side of the sofa.

“Yeah.” Kelsey said rolling her eyes, “So what’s this sleep over thing?”

“I dunno. You said you were sleeping tonight. I asked could I join you and you said a sleep over. You started the sleep over thing.” Nick said as Rachel laughed and Nick looked over at her laughing.

“Well fine. Wanna watch a movie?” Kelsey asked.

“Sure, which one?”

“I have three with me that I carry everywhere.”

“Which ones?”

“The Wedding Planner, Notting Hill, and Forces Of Nature” Kelsey said as she looked over at Nick.

“All chick movies.” Nick said as rolled his eyes back in his head and started to yawn, “Oh well I’m getting so sleepy.”

“We’ll watch The Wedding Planner.” Kelsey said as Nick cut his eyes over at Rachel who laughed again, “But I’m going to go take a shower or bath right now, because I’m hot and I’m icky.”

“Can I join that too?” Nick asked, looking back at her.

“Rachel, keep an eye on horny boy here.” Kelsey said as she started to walk into her room and Nick looked in shock.

“I am not!” Nick shouted out as he looked over at Rachel, “I’m really not.”

“Damn.” Kelsey thought as she walked into the bathroom with her things in her hands, sitting them down on the counter and looked in the mirror. She reached up, pulling her hair out of her pigtails, and trying to straighten it a little bit and then undid her straps on her overalls, letting them fall down.

“I look like crap.” Kelsey thought as she looked around the bathroom and looked at herself back in the mirror.

“So.”

“How are ya?”

“Pretty damn good.”

“Great.” Nick said as he looked around, “How did the work go?”

“Kelsey wasn’t satisfied with it.” Rachel said looking at the TV, “How did yours go?”

“Pretty good.” Nick said as he sat there looking around, “So whatcha thinking about?”

“What your intentions are.”

“To hangout with Kelsey.”

“Good.” Rachel said, “Is this going to become something normal?”

“Watcha mean?”

“Meaning, you two hanging out. Is this going to become something regular. Like I will see you every day of my non - existant life?” Rachel asked as Nick started to laugh.

“I hope. Okay not everyday.” Nick said, “You know what I mean.”

“Yeah. Plus, Kelsey’s gonna need a good support team too.”

“Watcha mean?”

“Her mom -”

“Has cancer. I know, but she said she’s gonna be fine.” Nick said as Rachel looked over at him, “I mean, she is right?”

“You can’t say anything to Kelsey.” Rachel said, “But I should tell you so that you’re there for her when you can be.”

“What?”

“Her mom is pretty bad off. She’s just letting Kelsey think she’s okay so she can continue on with her career since she’s worked so hard for it.” Rachel said as Nick looked at her.

“So she’s gonna die?” Nick asked as Rachel nodded her head yes, “Shit.”

“Doesn’t give her too much longer. Probably Feburary. That’s why I was trying to talk Kelsey out of doing this long tour with Tim McGraw starting at the end of January through around middle March. That might happen somewhere in that time.” Rachel said, “But she wants to and I can’t tell her why I don’t want her to because her mom doesn’t want me to.”

“She’s going to be so damn pissed.” Nick said, “You should tell her.”

“I know I should, but I promised Sharon that I wouldn’t.” Rachel said, “I can’t just go against her wishes you know, it’s her daughter.”

“Yeah I know.” Nick said as he looked back at Kelsey’s door, “But damn, she should know if her mom’s dying or not so she can go spend some time with her.”

“Yeah but she doesn’t want Kelsey sitting around, waiting on her to do die.” Rachel said.

“Yeah but if she knows it’s going to happen, she can prepare for it and it won’t come as a shock.” Nick said looking over at Rachel, “You guys don’t tell her. She’s going to be in shock and freak out or something.”

“Well she doesn’t want her to know and I thought since I figure you’re going to be a permanent fixture in her life now, that you should know.” Rachel said as Nick looked away.

“Permanent fixture, why do you say that? I’m not a sink.” Nick said as Rachel rolled her eyes.

“I give it a month, maybe two.” Rachel said.

“A month, maybe two for what?”

“That you two will be together.”

“I give it less than that.” Nick said as Rachel they both turned and looked at each other.

“Plans?”

“Maybe.”

“What kind?”

“I have no plans really.” Nick said as he started to laugh, “Just wanted to sound like a smartass.”

“Then why do you say less than a month?”

“I don’t know, I just give it that.” Nick said as Rachel laughed, shaking her head.

Knock knock

“What?”

Open up, I have something to discuss with you

“What do you want AJ?” Brian asked as he opened up his door.

“Where’s Carter?”

“With Kelsey.”

“Figures, for what?” AJ asked as Brian started to laugh, “What what.”

“Sleepover.”

“Ohhh reaaaallly. His room?”

“Her’s.”

“So he’s finally going to get some?” AJ asked as Brian tried to shut the door on him, “What’s going on with our boy?”

“Nothing.” Brian said as he looked around, “Now if you excuse me -”

“Oh no no little church man. We are going to talk.” AJ said as Brian shut the door on him, locking it back.

“Night AJ.”

“Damn everybody closing the door on me.” AJ muttered as he started to walk down the hallway.

“Well.” Kelsey said as she walked out of her room wearing a blue tank top and matching drawstring pants to see Rachel and Nick sitting there on the sofa, “What all did you two say about me?”

“How much of a smartass you are?” Nick asked as he looked back at her and turned back around.

“Well I think it’s time for me to leave.” Rachel said, “I have some papers to look over and then I need to make some phone calls.”

“Oh no she’s leaving me alone with him.” Kelsey said as Rachel smiled.

“Night kiddies.”

“Kiddies?” Nick asked, “I’m a man.”

“Whatever!” Rachel said, walking into her room, shutting the door as Kelsey stood there looking around.

“So where do you wanna watch the movie at?” Kelsey asked as Nick sat there looking at the TV, “Hello?”

“Wherever you want.” Nick said as Kelsey walked up closer to the back of the sofa, leaning over to look at him, “Damn.”

“Damn? What’s wrong? You can go back to your room. This was your idea.”

“You said sleep over.”

“You asked could you join me.” Kelsey said as Nick growled a little, “Fine, I’ll just go in my room. You can sleep over in here.” Kelsey said as she walked in her room, leaving her door cracked a little. Nick looked back at it, seeing that it was open and smiled.

“Leaving the door cracked is just an invitation.” Nick said as he heard Kelsey laugh, “Yeah, I thought so.

Nick got up, and walked over to her door, peeking in to see her sitting on her bed, fast forwarding through the movie previews on the video tape.

“Can I come in?”

“That’s why I left the door open.” Kelsey said as she looked over at him and he walked in, shutting it back.

“I figured that much.” Nick said as he stood there looking around, “What we gonna watch?”

“The Wedding Planner”

“Ugh, okay.” Nick said as he looked around again.

“You can get on the bed.” Kelsey said as Nick smiled, “I’m not gonna bite.”

“Well damn, there goes one of my three wishes.” Nick said as he sat down on the edge.

“You are pathetic.” Kelsey said as she grabbed his arm, pulling him up on the bed, “There, lay down. Watch the movie. Matthew is hot in it.”

“Damn southern accents.” Nick mumbled as he looked over at Kelsey.

“What was that?”

“Notta.”

“I heard you.”

“Well, I don’t like his. I like yours.” Nick said as Kelsey cut her eyes over at him, “Well I do. I don’t find guys attractive.”

“Oh you find me attractive?”

“I thought it was obvious.”

“Okay just a tad bit.” Kelsey said laughing, “There move on that side of the bed, I wanna lay down.”

“You can lay down on me.”

“Oh no.”

“Fine.” Nick said as he moved over on his side as Kelsey layed down on stomach, propping her elbows up on the bed, resting her in the palms of her hands. Nick layed there looking at her as Kelsey was watching the movie.

“You’re not watching the movie.” Kelsey said as she cut her eyes over at him.

“Oh, sorry.” Nick said as he shook his head and looked up at the TV. He layed there looking at the TV for a few minutes, until he looked back over at Kelsey.

“Nick.”

“Yeah?”

“Do you like me more than the movie?”

“That’s an easy question. Yes I do.”

“Well I like the movie more than you.”

“That was harsh.”

“I was joking.”

“My feelings are hurt now.” Nick said as he but his head face down on the bed, making a sobbing noise.

“I think he just wants a hug.” Kelsey said as she looked around and Nick peeked up at her.

“Damn, didn’t work.” Nick said as Kelsey laughed, “So can I ask you a question?”

“No.” Kelsey said with a smirk as she looked back at the TV.

“Well damn.”

“Fine, ask me.”

“Oh no, that’s okay.”

“Oh come on.”

“Fine.” Nick said as he looked over at her, “What would you do if like rumors about us started up?”

“Rumors?”

“You know…”

“That we’re dating or something?” Kelsey asked.

“Yeah.”

“Well, we’re not dating or anything. We’re friends.”

“That kiss.” Nick said as Kelsey laughed a little.

“Yeah.”

“Which was nice.”

“Yeah.”

“Ahh, the memories.” Nick said as he rolled over on his back, closing his eyes and Kelsey looked around.

“Hmm, well here’s you a reminder.” Kelsey said as she scooted over closer to him, leaning over, and kissing him softly on the lips and pulled away, “Merry Christmas, there’s your present.”

“Well damn.” Nick said as Kelsey moved back over and went back to watching the movie and Nick layed there looking around, confused.
