Chapter 25
“Who’s that?” Kelsey asked as Nick closed his eyes and looked over at the door.
“Dunno.” Nick said as he turned around and walked up to the door, looking out the peep hole to see Rachel and David standing outside, “God dammit.”
“What?”
“Any other damn time their ass wouldn’t be around.” Nick said as he looked over at Kelsey and opened the door up, “Hi there.”
“Where’s Kelsey?” Rachel said as she looked into the room to see Kelsey standing there by the sofa, “What are you doing?”
“About to go to sleep. Did you finally decide to come up?” Kelsey asked, “God you’re drunk.”
“Smell it too.” Nick said as he fanned the air infront of his face as Rachel looked at him.
“Well come on and let’s go to our suite.” Rachel said as Kelsey rolled her eyes, walking up to the door and leaned up, kissing Nick on the cheek.
“Thanks.” Kelsey said as Nick smiled.
“You’re welcome. See ya tomorrow.”
“Okay. Good night.” Kelsey said smiling as she walked out and Rachel and David looked at Kelsey and then back at Nick. Rachel gave Nick a weird look who just did a cheesy grin in return and shut the door.
“Well then.” Rachel said as she turned around and walked up to the door where David and Kelsey was standing. David was trying to unlock the door but was too drunk.
“Gimme.” Kelsey said as she took the card from him, unlocking the door and walked in, throwing the card key on the table.
“Oh Kelsey, what’s this see ya tomorrow thing?” Rachel asked as Kelsey turned around watching Rachel stumble into the suite.
“Nothing.” Kelsey said, “Just we talked and I dunno, I like him.” as she started to walk into her room and walked back out, “Oh yeah, Rach?”
“Yeah?” Rachel asked as she kicked her shoes off, stumbling over to her room.
“I need my cell phone number to give to Nick tomorrow. Night!” Kelsey said as she shut her door and Rachel stood there confused.
Nick walked away from the door and walked into the bedroom, crawling up on the bed and layed down, looking up at the ceiling. He layed there, not really thinking about anything, but just looking at the ceiling until he started to smile.
Then he remembered how he didn’t get online and rolled his eyes.
“Damn I don’t feel like getting up to get online.” Nick thought as he looked over at the clock. It was going on 2:30 in the morning.
“Shit, we talked for like five hours.” Nick said outloud as he looked back up at the ceiling and closed his eyes, smiling.
“Uh.” Kelsey moaned the next morning as she opened her eyes and looked around. She lifted her head off of the bed and looked over at the clock, “God, 11:30.”
She sat up in bed, reaching over beside it to grab her laptop which was in her backpack. She pulled it out, opened it up and began to let Windows load.
“He’s gonna think I deserted him.” Kelsey thought as she went to log online and waited for the connection. She sat there thinking about the conversastion she had with Nick the night before when finally the internet was connected and she opened up her e-mail to see one new message, “It’s from him.”
She smiled as she went and clicked on the message, reading it.
Leigh,
I’m soooo sorry I didn’t come on chat yesteday.
You don’t begin to know how sorry I am. I just got
so caught up with work yesterday that I really didn’t
have time to log online.
I feel bad for missing our chat though. I feel like a
asshole or something. I was looking forward to it
so much you don’t know. Anyway, hm, I dunno if
I’ll be on any today. I guess it kinda depends on
what happends, but I promise, I will check my
mail later okay?
I’m really sorry about yesterday. I hope you
don’t hate me. Come on, you can’t hate me
now!
Later chick,
Love,
Nicholas
Awww, he didn’t get to make it either. That’s good, atleast he wasn’t sitting here waiting on me when I never showed up.” Kelsey thought as she hit reply and began to e-mail him back.
Knock Knock
“Come in.” Kelsey said as Rachel peeked the door open, “Hey.”
“Oh you’re finally up.” Rachel said as she walked in, “Watcha doing?”
“Emailing Nicholas back. He didn’t get to make the chat yesterday either.” Kelsey said as Rachel started to smile a little.
“Um, Kelsey, we’ve gotta go today.” Rachel said as Kelsey stopped writing and looked at her, “Yeah, you’ve got to go home to Georgia for the day before we go to New York City.”
“Why?” Kelsey asked, “Is something wrong?”
“Yeah, you’re mom wants you to come home. I’m not sure. I was just coming in to wake you up. Our flight leaves in a hour and a half.” Rachel said as Kelsey sighed and finished typing the e-mail, “I’m sorry -”
“Yeah I know. I don’t want to go home but I mean, I guess I should.” Kelsey said as she finished the e-mail and logged offline and turned her laptop off, “I guess I should get dressed and get ready.”
“Yeah, I’m gonna go get ready. David’s already getting ready.” Rachel said as she got up and walked out of the room.
Kelsey sat there looking around until finally she cralwed out of bed and went into her bathroom so that she could start getting ready.
“Dude, I had the best damn time last night.” Nick said meanwhile as him and Brian stood outside in the hotel’s basektball court, tossing the ball back and forth to each other.
“What did you two talk about?”
“Every damn thing.” Nick said, “She’s funny as hell. She had me laughing almost the entire time and yo.”
“Yo.”
“She don’t know her own cell phone number.”
“Do what?” Brian asked as he started laughing, “Wait -”
“Uh oh.”
“How did you find that out?”
“I asked her for it.” Nick said as he smiled and Brian shook his head at him, “What?”
“So you really like her?”
“Hell yes.”
“I told you that she was a sweet girl.” Brian said as he threw the ball and almost hit Nick in the face.
“Dude watch it.” Nick said as he hold the ball, spinning it on his finger, “She’s sassy as hell.”
“Sassy?” Brian asked as he laughed, “I think that’s because she likes ya.”
“I dunno. She’s gonna be here until tomorrow and so are we so we’ll probably meet up later.” Nick said as he looked over at Brian and threw the ball back at him.
“What about this Leigh?”
“Dude, I e-mailed her this morning when I first woke up and told her that I was so damn sorry for missing the chat yesterday. She hadn’t e-mailed me. She might be mad.” Nick said as he looked up at the sky, “Looks like it’s gonna rain. Isn’t Las Vegas in the middle of the desert?”
“I think.” Brian said as he started to laugh, “Well I’m sure she’s not mad at you.”
“Hope not.” Nick said as he walked over, sitting down on the bench, “Dunno what the fuck I’m gonna do.”
“Do about what?” Brian asked as he looked back at Nick.
“I really like Kelsey right but I like Leigh too. I’m fucked in the head. I guess I’ll wait until I go out to dinner with Leigh and see what happends after that. Which one I like better.” Nick said as Brian smiled and walked over and sat down beside him.
“So, see if you can meet Leigh sooner.” Brian said as Nick looked over at him.
“She says that’s basically the next night she has off from work.”
“Working with her friend that’s a manager?” Brian asked, trying to give Nick a hint.
“Yeah. Sucks, but blah, dude I’ll meet her soon enough. I mean Kelsey isn’t coming back to LA for a few days anyway. She’s gotta go to New York City and then to Nashville. But I’m gonna get her phone number later.” Nick said as he smiled.
“Sweet.”
“Sweet.” Nick said as he looked over at Brian, “Now lemme beat your ass at this game.”
“Oh in your damn dreams blonde boy.” Brian said as Nick threw the ball at him.
“Clariol Number 5. Atleast mine’s natural.” Nick said as Brian threw the ball back at Nick harder who just laughed at him.
“Okay, all of our things are already being taken down. I think we’ve got everything.” Rachel said, “The others are all ready.”
“Wait.” Kelsey said, “I’ve got to give Nick my number.”
“Huh?” Rachel asked as she looked over at David who shrugged his shoulders.
“Yeah, Nick asked for my cell number last night and yo, Rach, I don’t know my own damn number.” Kelsey said as Rachel rolled her eyes, and walked over, writing it down on a peice of paper.
“There you go.” Rachel said as she handed it to her.
“Alright.” Kelsey said as she grabbed the pen, writing a note on it. Rachel looked over at David who just smiled as they watched Kelsey, “Fine. I’m ready now.”
“Alright.” David said, “Come on girls.” as they started out of the suite and walked down to the elevator. They walked into the elevator, where Kelsey looked down at the note with her number and her message.
Here’s my number. I had to leave early to go home to Georgia before going to NYC. Call me okay.
Love,
Kelsey
She folded it back up, listening to Rachel and David bicker up infront of her and finally the doors opened and they walked out into the lobby.
“Hold up.” Kelsey said as she ran up to the front desk where there hostess was, “Hi, we’re leaving but can you give someone something for me?”
“Sure.” she said, “Are they a guest in the hotel?”
“Yeah, he’s on the 10th floor, suite 1104.” Kelsey said as she handed her the folded peice of paper, “Just tell him it’s from Kelsey.”
“Okay, I will.”
“Thanks.” Kelsey said as she smiled and walked back up to where Rachel and David were and they walked out of the hotel, “Alright, time to go home.”
“Oh joy, I get to see the rednecks.” David said as Kelsey hit him in the arm.
“Shuddup. I know they’re rednecks. Well most of my family is.” David said as Rachel started laughing.
“You suck.” Nick said as him and Brian were walking through the lobby about that same time after coming back from the basketball court.
“I let you win.” Brian said as Nick laughed a little when he heard the hostess calling his name.
“Huh?” Nick asked as he looked back at her, to see her waving at him, “Hold up Rok.”
“Alright.” Brian said as they walked up to the front desk.
“You’re in suite 1104 right?” the hostess asked as Nick nodded his head yes.
“Yeah, why?” Nick asked as she handed him the note, “A girl named Kelsey just left this for you before she left.”
“Kelsey? She left?” Nick asked as he looked down, unfolding the letter to see her number and her message, “Damn she had to go to Georgia.”
“Well that sucks. Atleast you got her number.” Brian said as Nick told the hostess thanks and him and Brian started back to the elevator, “Gonna call her?”
“Later yeah.” Nick said, “Damn. Well I guess I’ll be online later with Leigh.”
“One girl dumps you and you go to the other. Sad Nick.”
“Shut up man.” Nick said as Brian laughed and they got into the elevator.
“So did you have a good time with Nick last night?” Rachel asked as her and Kelsey were sitting there on the plane. Kelsey had her usual window seat and Rachel was sitting next to her.
“Yeah, we didn’t do nothing but talk.” Kelsey said, “The only reason I went into his suite was because I was sleepy and I knew you were down there drinking with them so I didn’t want to piss you off or anything.”
“Yeah, I know. I know you’re not stupid enough to do something like that when you don’t really know him. I mean - ”
“That’s the weird thing though.” Kelsey said as she looked over at Rachel, “I feel like I already know him.”
“Okay.” Rachel said as she looked in the opposite direction, wanting to laugh, “Why do you say that?”
“We just sat there and talked so easily to each other. He laughed at all my jokes which I didn’t mean to be jokes in the first place.” Kelsey said, “I liked that.”
“So what’s this mean? You left your number, you’re gonna start talking now?” Rachel asked as she looked over at Kelsey.
“If he asked me out, I’d say yes.” Kelsey said as Rachel looked at her in shock, “What?”
“I didn’t expect you to say that.” Rachel said, “What about Nicholas? Damn you’ve got a Nick and a Nicholas. Go for someone with a different name.”
“Blah, I still like Nicholas. I mean I’m going to have dinner with him soon. I won’t see Nick again til I go back to LA anyway, so I mean, what does it hurt talking? Then I can decide who I like better.” Kelsey said as Rachel laughed a little.
“I’m sorry Kelsey. I’ve gotta tell ya.” Rachel said laughing as Kelsey looked over at her confused.
