Chapter 13

Chapter Thirteen - So Wrong, But So Right

“Have I ever been in love?” Nick asked as he looked at the TV, staring at it as Jennifer Aniston busted into the coffee house wearing a wedding dress and everybody looked at her, “Maybe,” Nick said as he looked over at Caraline, “Maybe I have. I’m not sure for real yet, you know,”

“Yet?” Caraline asked as Nick nodded his head yes, “Meaning me?”

“Man,” Nick said as he looked away and started to laugh, “I don’t wanna look like a bad ass and go ‘No, I’ve never been in love,” he said as he laughed again, “But I don’t wanna look like a wimp and -” he said as he paused. He looked over at Caraline and sighed as she stared back at him. “I don’t wanna look like a whip who’s whipped and say ‘Yeah, that I think I might love you,’.

“Why do you think you might love me?”

“Just, how you are,” Nick said as he turned around, looking at her and licked his lips, smiling, “Your personality and your spunk. I’m like so damn taken with your confidence and your ability to make me smile even when I feel like complete shit, you make me feel good. I don’t wanna lose that,” he said as Caraline smiled, reaching over and putting her hand on top of his, “I’m not gonna lose it am I?”

“I don’t think so,” Caraline said as Nick smiled, looking back at the TV.

“So why the hell is Jennifer Aniston in a wedding dress?” Nick asked as Caraline started to laugh.

“Rachel ran out of her wedding and she went to Monica because she’s the only person in the city that she knew that wasn’t invited to the wedding. That’s how she comes to stay to live with Monica and become friends with all of them. Chandler and Joey are Monica’s neighbors. Phoebe is her old roommate and Ross is her brother,” Caraline said as she looked over at Nick, “And I’m speaking another language to you aren’t I?”

“Yeah, I don’t know who’s who,” Nick muttered as Caraline giggled a little. Nick smiled, looking over, “So why don’t you tell me about like your family or something?” he said as she looked at her, “Like your sister that grew up with Faith or your brothers or your parents or whatever,”

“Well,” Caraline said as she looked down at her hands, taking a deep breath, “I’m the youngest. I was sort of an accident,” she said as she started to laugh a little, “My sister is married now and she has two kids. My brother is married and has two kids too. My mom still lives back home in Star and my dad died when I was little, so my mom raised me mostly.” She said as she looked over at Nick, “What about you?”

“Well,” Nick said as he started to laugh, “My family is pretty fucked up right now, because well, I don’t even really have a family” he said as he looked back at the TV, “My parents are getting a divorce and they’re fighting. I hardly get to see anybody and just, it’s messed up right now. I have three sisters, a brother, and a half sister. I’m the oldest except for my half sister,”

“I’m sorry,” Caraline said as she looked back down at her hands and he looked at her, watching her as she pressed her lips together, looking sad, “I don’t like talking about my family that much. I never really felt like I was a part of it, you know? I always felt like an outsider sort of. My sister and brother have all of these memories of my dad and I hardly remember anything. When we get together for things like Christmas and all, they all talk about him and I don’t remember anything,”

“I’d rather not talk about my family right now either,” Nick said as Caraline looked up at him, “How did you get interested in design?”

“I just always loved clothes,” Caraline said as she smiled, shrugging her shoulders, “And I love doing people’s hair,”

“Hair huh?” Nick said as he laughed, “Is that why you said I needed a haircut?”

“Definitely,”

“That bad huh?”

“Yeah,” Caraline whispered, smiling at him, “I wanna cut it when you decide to cut it,”

“When I decide to cut it, I’ll let you,” Nick whispered back to her as she looked back at the TV, and rested her head on the back of the sofa, “Here, scoot over here,” Nick said as Caraline moved closer to him and he wrapped his arm around her. She looked back at him, giving him a little smirk and rested her head on his chest, watching TV.

“His wife left him because she’s a lesbian?” Nick asked as Caraline cracked up laughing, “That’s yo bad,”

“Yo,” Caraline said, mocking him, “You’re so ghetto,”

“I can’t help it,”

“It’s cute though,”

“Sorry I’m not one of your southern boys with the whacked out -” Nick said as he paused and started talking in a southern accent, “southern accents,”

“Don’t start trippin’ yo,” Caraline said as Nick leaned at her, wrapping his arm around her tighter, “Do you find this weird?”

“What weird?” Nick asked as Caraline looked up at him, “Us, here, cuddling and watching TV?”

“Yeah,” Caraline said as she sat up, looking him in the eyes, “I’m starting to feel so comfortable around you, which I did the first time I met you, but more so now,”

“Let’s play a game,” Nick said as Caraline started to smile, “Nothing dirty. We’ll just reveal our deepest secrets,”

“I don’t know if I want to do that,” Caraline whispered as Nick smiled at her, and then started to pout, “Okay, let’s reveal our deepest secrets,”

“Okay,” Nick said as Caraline looked down, shaking her head, “Who is one person, besides me, that you would like to sleep with?”

“Ashton Kutcher,”

“Really?”

“Oh yeah,” Caraline said as she started to giggle and then looked at Nick, “Have you ever done drugs?”

“Yeah, I have,” Nick said as Caraline looked at him, “Not anymore though. That’s over with.” She smiled in return, “Who was the guy that you slept with?”

“I’m not telling you that,” Caraline said as she looked back at the TV, “If that is where this game was going, then the game is over,”

“I was just asking. I don’t see what the big deal is,” Nick said as Caraline looked over at him, “I’m sorry,” he said, as he looked at her.

“It’s fine,” she whispered as she looked down at her hands again. She took a deep breath and then closed her eyes, opening them back up to see Nick looking at her, “Yeah?”

“Are you okay? I’m sorry if I upset you,” Nick said as Caraline smiled, “I didn’t mean to do that,”

“It’s fine,” Caraline said as she turned around, looking at him, “You really do like me don’t you Nick?”. Nick nodded his head in return, staring her in the eyes, “What would you do to have me right now?”

“Anything,” Nick whispered in a raspy voice as Caraline gave him a little smirk.

“Anything?”

“Anything,” Nick whispered as Caraline moved off of the sofa and stood there, looking down at him. She smiled, moving her fingertip along the edge of the sofa, walking around it. Nick turned his head, watching her as she turned around, facing him and walked into his bedroom. Nick opened his mouth in shock, turning all the way around onto his knees, looking over the sofa at the door.

Nick…

“Coming!” Nick yelled as he jumped over the sofa, falling onto the floor. He stood up quickly, looking around as he walked up to the door, pushing it open slightly to see Caraline standing there, staring back at him, “Yeah?” Caraline crooked her finger, motioning for him to come closer and he did, moving slowly, looking at her up and down as he walked closer to her and paused.

Caraline walked up closer to Nick, biting on her bottom lip and stopped, staring him in the eyes. She smiled a little, closing her eyes and leaned up, kissing him lightly on the lips. He stood there a minute, looking at her until he closed his eyes, and moved into the kiss too. He took her mouth into his, sucking on her tongue slowly, until they finally backed away, sucking on each other’s lips.

“What’s this mean?” Nick whispered as they held their heads together, with their eyes closed, breathing onto each other’s lips.

“I don’t know,” Caraline whispered as she moved her arms around his neck. Nick moved his lips to her neck, kissing on it lightly, and began to suck on it as she started to breath a little more heavily and pressed her lips together. He started to move his left hand under her tank top slowly, massaging the skin on her stomach as he moved his lips back up to hers, kissing them slowly.

He moved his hand from under her tank top, moving them both down to her hips and to her butt, lifting her up against him, bringing them back over to the bed. Caraline climbed on it with their lips never touching each other. Nick hovered over her, kissing her deeply as she ran her fingers through his hair that was on the edge of his neck.

They layed there kissing each other for a while. They never talked and their lips never left the other’s unless it was to kiss somewhere else on their face or their necks. They kissed, licked, sucked, and touched one another, never even bothering to take it any further. They were contempt with what they were doing.

“Caraline..” Nick whispered as he moved his lips from hers and looked down at her. She opened her eyes, blinking them a little as she searched back into his, wondering why he stopped kissing her, “I don’t want you to leave tomorrow. Do you have to take that job with Tim?”

“He offered it to me,” Caraline whispered back, as she took a deep breath and pressed her lips together.

“I really don’t want you to go,” Nick said as he leaned back down, kissing her quickly on the lips, “I don’t want you to leave this,”

“I don’t think I want to,” Caraline said as Nick smiled, leaning back over to kiss her. She smiled against his lips, kissing him back, and wrapping her arms around his neck even tighter.

A few hours later, Caraline was lying there on the bed, on her side, looking at Nick as he slept beside her. They kissed for a little while more and then they layed there talking for what seemed like forever until she looked over and Nick was fast asleep. She had never seen anybody fall asleep as fast as he did but she layed there smiling and watched him.

She wasn’t going to deny that she was starting to have some real feelings for him, even if they had just met. She wanted him badly too and she wasn’t going to deny that either. She got so caught up in making out with him that she was almost wanting to go all the way but she didn’t want to seem pushy or seem like a whore.

She also knew she had made a huge mistake too.

She knew she made Nick think that she was going to give up the job position that Tim had offered her. She didn’t think about it until Nick started talking about it after they stopped kissing and she got scared, never telling him anything.

But she couldn’t give it up.

She didn’t know how to tell him and she didn’t know what to say to him to tell him otherwise. She couldn’t give up a job with one of the world’s biggest artist, no matter who it was, to stay with Nick where she would probably only get herself into a situation that she couldn’t get out of and that was wrong.

The only problem was is that it felt so right.
