Chapter 4

“Sam, who was that?” asked Megan as Samantha hung up the pay phone.

“A old friend.” said Samantha as she picked up her backpack and they started down the hallway.

“A old friend? Wouldn’t they be in school?” asked Megan.

“What year did you come to school here?” asked Samantha.

“4th grade.” said Megan as they walked into class and sat down in their seats in the front of the class.

“Remember Nick Carter? Blonde… he always said he was gonna be famous and one day he just left?” asked Samantha, “He used to do all of those commercials and sing at the football games and stuff.”

“Yeah I think so… him?” asked Megan.

“Yeah… he was in Milan.” said Samantha as she opened up her book as Megan looked confused.

“Milan?” asked Megan, “What the hell?”

“He’s in that group the Backstreet Boys.. he was home a few weeks ago and well the day before school started and he came here looking around and I ran into him.” said Samantha.

“Did you use to go together when you were like in 6th or 7th grade?” asked Megan.

“Uhh damn girl we were kids.. he’s cool.” said Samantha.

“Cool?” asked Megan as Samantha looked over at her.

“Oh lord no it’s not what you’re thinking..” said Samantha as she started to laugh and Jake walked in and sat down in the seat behind Samantha.

“What are you two talking about?” asked Jake.

“Nick Carter.” said Samantha.

“Ohhh Nicky, could never stand that punk, what about him?” asked Jake.

“Nothing.” said Samantha as Megan looked over at Samantha and then back at Jake as the teacher walked in and they began class.

“So…” whispered Megan as they walked out of that class and was about to go to their last class of the day.

“So… what?” asked Samantha.

“Ya’ll gonna hook up or somethin?” asked Megan as Samantha rolled her eyes.

“No… I dunno he’s cute…” said Samantha.

“Oh but Jake..” said Megan as Samantha started to smile.

“So… we only went out three times.” said Samantha smiling.

“In the past three weeks…” said Megan.

“So, that doesn’t mean anything.” said Samantha as she looked over into one of the classrooms as they walked into the classroom, sat their booksdown and walked back in the hallway.

“Don’t mean anything, call Nick, hook up with him, what’s he look like?” asked Megan.

“Uhh kind of like he used to, taller… more grown up.” said Samantha, “I went and bought the CD after he came home…. hold on.. it’s in my backpack.” as she walked back into the classroom, took the CD out and handed it to Megan.

“Whoa.. he did grow up, and why the hell don’t he go to school here?” asked Megan as Samantha snatched it back.

“He’s being toured while on the road. They’re huge stars oversee’s. I looked it up on the internet.” said Samantha.

“Uh huh….” said Megan, “Well let me know when the wedding is.” as she smiled and walked back into the classroom as Samantha looked confused.

“Huh?” asked Samantha as they sat down in their seats and she looked over at her, “Oh don’t even think…” as Jake walked in and squatted down infront of Samantha’s desk.

“Hey I’m leaving school early…. you wanna go out tonight?” asked Jake as Megan looked from Jake to Samantha.

“Sure.” said Samantha as Jake smiled.

“Alright… I’ll call ya when I know you’re home.” said Jake as he walked out and Samantha looked over at Megan.

“Nick’s just a friend.” said Samantha as she took her book out of her backpack.

“Oh that look you just gave Jake… I can tell..” said Megan as she turned around her seat with a weird look as she shook her head.

“Damn boy has got to stop snorrin’…” Brian thought that night in Milan as he layed there with a pillow over his head as Nick started snorring even louder and Brian flipped over in bed when Nick’s cell phone rung.

“Nick… you’re phone…” said Brian as Nick layed there and Brian sat up, “Nick, your phone!!!!”

“Shit..” said Nick as he jumped, falling off the bed as he answered his phone, “Hello?”

“Hey.” said Samantha.

“Damn girl it’s like somewhere between 1 and sunrise…” said Nick as he leaned his head back and hit it on the nightstand, “Damn that hurt…”

“Ohhhh the time thing, I forgot. It was night when I called over at lunch, I’m sorry.” said Samantha.

“It’s alright. What’s up?” asked Nick.

“I dunno.. kind of wanted someone to talk to that I don’t have around and will tease me.” said Samantha.

“Don’t you have friends…. there.” said Nick as he looked over to see Brian smiling at him.

“Finally some sleep.” said Brian as he rolled over.

“Yeah.. but like my best friend Megan, she’d make fun of me.” said Samantha, “And you said if I ever had a problem to call ya…”

“Yeah so what is it?” asked Nick as he climbed back in bed and got back under his covers, laying back in bed. Samantha just layed there on her bed as she started to smile, “What?”

“I went out with Jake again tonight.” said Samantha.

“Uh oh…” said Nick as he started to laugh, “Thought you were just going out with him once that day, ohh this make what, four times now?”

“I dunno, I guess he kind of grows on ya.” said Samantha, “We had fun tonight.”

“Uh I don’t wanna know about him like that.” said Nick.

“I didn’t mean like that…. we went to the mall and hung out together, and we had pictures taken in this little photo booth and it was all just nice.” said Samantha.

“Shit you’re fallin’ in love.” said Nick.

“No I’m not.” said Samantha.

“Yeah, see Kevin, he’s been with this same girl on and off a long time and I’ve seen them all together and I’ve seen how she talks about him, and it’s all the little things.” said Nick.

“No….” said Samantha.

“Watch, you’ll start really dating now.” said Nick laughing.

“Like you don’t date…” said Samantha.

“I do some…. I saw the same girl for about a year, but… not really…” said Nick, “So will you invite me to the wedding or will Jake make fun of me there?”

“Wedding? Umm no…… there won’t be one.. damn I’ve gone out with him four times.” said Samantha laughing.

“You’re all giggly…. you like him alot.. that’s cool though. Enjoy it.” said Nick.

“Ohh… Nick doesn’t get to stay in one place and date someone.. sorry…” said Samantha.

“It’s cool… I’m single.. I’m famous… I can get as many chicks I want.” said Nick as he started to laugh.

“Sure of yourself aren’t you?” asked Samantha.

“Wouldn’t have said it if I didn’t already know it.” said Nick.

“Alright, well… I’ll let you go… just wanted to tell someone that kind of and if I had told Megan she would have laughed her ass off.” said Samantha.

“It’s cool, call me anytime to tell me that you like some moron, it’s all good.” said Nick laughing.

“Okay… bye.” said Samantha.

“Bye.” said Nick as he hung up and Brian rolled over.

“She got a boyfriend now? Guess you two won’t be gettin’ together…” said Brian.

“I knew we wouldn’t..” said Nick laughing, “She just is the friend type.”

“Must be ugly then..” said Brian laughing.

“No.. she’s not.” said Nick, “Just a friend.”
