Chapter 36

“You know Sam…” said Nick that night as they laid there on his bed in his room watching a movie and eating popcorn.

“What?” asked Samantha as she put a piece of popcorn in her mouth and looked over at him.

“I’ve had fun today.” Said Nick as Samantha smiled.

“I did too.” Said Samantha, “I just wish Jake hadn’t of came.”

“Yeah well he saw that you were having fun so ya know, fuck him, who cares.” Said Nick, “You’re here with me now… so it’s all good.”

“Yeah I’m here with you but it won’t be like that for long.” Said Samantha as Nick looked over at her again.

“Yeah, but you know that you can stay here as long as you want. Hell if not that, go visit your parents, you have seen them once since you’ve had Megan.” Said Nick.

“Yeah well…I’ll just stay here, find someone to keep Megan and keep my job at the station.” Said Samantha.

“You know I could probably pull some strings and get you some time on air and stuff, you’d be great at that kind of stuff, working in radio and all..” said Nick as Samantha looked over at him.

“You mean a DJ?” asked Samantha.

“Yeah, it could be cool..” said Nick.

“That’s okay Nick.. no need to… I like what I do now.” Said Samantha.

“Okay..” said Nick as he smiled and continued to eat all the popcorn as Samantha looked in the bowl.

“Damn it, you’ve ate it all…” said Samantha.

“Opps.. my bad.” Said Nick, “I’ll go get some more..” as he took the bowl, getting off of the bed and started to walk out the door and looked over at her, “Don’t do nothing I wouldn’t do.”

“Yes I will..” said Samantha as Nick started downstairs, walking into the kitchen.

“Damn..” Nick thought as he put a bag of popcorn into the microwave and hit start. He sat up on the counter next to the micrwave, holding the bowl as he started to drift off into though.

, “Can I say something and not make you feel awkward or anything?” asked Nick

“Uh yeah..” said Nick

“Damn Nick, you should have just said you deserve someone better than that stupid fuck… someone who isn’t gonna cause you the problems and stress that he does, or do any of the stuff that he does…” he thought as he looked over at the microwave to see a minute left, “Someone like me maybe…Hell I’m kiddin’ myself, although that’s what I should have said, it would never work for us, we’re too different but too much alike.” He thought as he buzzer went off on microwave. He took the popcorn out of the bag, putting in the bowl, and started back upstairs.

He walked into the bedroom to see Samantha laying there on the bed with her head at the foot of the bed and her feet at the head of the bed, with her head laying on her arms, asleep. He just stood there a minute and watched her until he realized he needed to stop and he walked back in, jumping on the bed and woke Samantha up.

“Damn what took so long?” asked Samantha as she grabbed the bowl of popcorn.

“Nuttin honey.” Said Nick as Samantha gave him a dirty look as they continued to watch TV.

Samantha continued to stay at Nick’s, taking a few days off of work so that the bruises from what Jake did would go away, but she was enjoying every minute of it. Her and Nick would just sit around, play video games, watch movies, and even took Megan out swimming in his huge Olympic size pool in the back. She hadn’t had so much fun since Nick had all that time off before her Senior Prom.

Nick was enjoying it too, but it was hard for him because every minute that he spent with her made him like her even more, even though he didn’t think it was possible. He knew he couldn’t seriously fall for her; they were best friends, and she had a fiancée and a kid. Every time he started to look at her in that way, those words Kevin told him kept playing in his head but he listened. He listened to the words but that didn’t mean he was doing what those words were telling him. He was starting to have feelings for Samantha and they weren’t friend feelings either.

Three days had passed and Jake had not been back around at Nick’s house. Samantha had not heard from him, but her father had found out that she was staying at Nick’s and was concerned, but she reassured him nothing was wrong and that she just wanted to spend some time with her best friend while he was home.

Today was going to be cool though. Howie, Brian, AJ, and Kevin were coming over to Tampa and Howie was going to take Samantha out for the day to pamper her and take her mind off of things while Nick, Brian, AJ and Kevin were going to watch Megan. Samantha worried about that, but after Kevin reassured her on the phone the night before.

“Okay just kiss her goodbye one last time.” Said Brian holding Megan as Samantha kissed her again.

“Alright I’m just going out for a little while and I’m gonna leave you here with these morons okay.. damn I’m scared I’m never gonna see her again.” Said Samantha as Howie started to laugh.

“Morons? I resent that.” Said AJ as Nick laughed.

“Okay you two have fun now.” Said Kevin.

“We will don’t worry.” Said Howie, “Come on Sam.”

“Now don’t put the moves on her or nothin’ now D.” said Nick as Howie rolled his eyes. Samantha waved as they walked out the door and they all looked at each other.

“Well..” said AJ as he looked over at Brian, “Who’s up for Bingo?”

“Huh?” asked Nick.

“We can’t necessarily have a party with a baby here…” said AJ.

“True..” said Kevin, “We’re watching a baby that’s all.”

“This is going to be easy, no sweat,” Brian said, picking Megan up and making baby faces at her.

“Exactly. We are professionals, we entertain 15,000 people a night, surely we can handle a little babysitting,” Kevin said, as they all nodded in agreement.

An hour later, AJ was screaming across the living room. “Rok can you get me another diaper here? These keep on breaking.”

“What the hell, that’s the fourth one dude, what are you two morons doing over there?” Brian asked as he brought them the entire bag.

“Here just in case all of them break,” Brian said, as he ran to the other side of the room.

“Well damn dude, if you’re an expert, why don’t you come over here and change her instead of runing to the other side of the room?” Nick yelled, “I swear this looks so easy when Sam does it.”

“Man she did a tinkle in her diaper..” said AJ, “Don’t have a fit alright…”

“Tinkle?” asked Nick as he looked over at AJ with a concerned look.

“You sure we suppose to be lookin’ at this?” asked Kevin as Brian walked back over with a roll of duct tape.

“Man alright since you morons don’t know what you doin’, you do this..” said Brian, “Hold her up Nick and AJ you hold the diaper cuz see we gonna put some of this duct tape around it and well this damn diaper will stay on.”

“Dude this could hurt her! Sam will kill me man!” said Nick as he looked over at Brian with wide eyes.

“Rok my man, you are a genius!!” yelled AJ as Brian smiled.

“Major props cuz.” Said Kevin smiling, “Proud of ya.”

“Nick man it won’t hurt her, the tape isn’t touching her and when it’s time to change her again maybe we’ll figure out how these things really work and we can have a diaper on her right when Samantha comes home.” Said Brian as Nick looked over at AJ who wanted to laugh.

After a few tries, Nick, Brian, Kevin, and AJ managed to finally get the diaper on, thanks to the duct tape.

“See, we can do this!” AJ said, clapping his hands.

“Cool, so let’s just put her in her boucy seat right here,” Nick said as he sat Megan in her little chair.

“Rok, how ’bout I whip ya with some Nintendo?” Nick asked, as Brian grabbed a controller and threw the other one across at Nick.

“You’re on,” Brian said.

“You know Samantha, this is nice.” Said Howie as they both laid there on separate tables, on their stomachs while they were being massaged.

“I know… I’ve never had one before…” said Samantha as she looked over at Howie.

“You know and not to be mean but I bet there are a lot of things you’ve never had.” Said Howie as Samantha looked in shock.

“Howie..” said Samantha.

“I told you I didn’t mean it like that. You’re like Nick and AJ, you’ve got too much of a dirty mind.” Said Howie.

“Well what did you mean?” asked Samantha as she closed her eyes.

“I mean, well I know what happened…” said Howie as Samantha continued to have her eyes closed.

“And?” asked Samantha.

“Well.. you’ve never had someone you love be good to you have you?” asked Howie.

“My parents and family.” Said Samantha, “But they deserted me…”

“I mean the in love type someone.” Said Howie.

“You mean a guy that is no relation to me..” said Samantha.

“Yeah, have you ever had a guy in love with you and didn’t treat you the way that Megan’s father treats you?” asked Howie as Samantha opened her eyes.

“Jake was my first real boyfriend.. I went on dates and stuff before but he was my first real boyfriend…. But no… after I graduated I never stayed friends with anybody from high school, the only real friend that I have is Nick and I guess he loves me, he’s done so much for me.” Said Samantha, “I guess I just lucked up when I ran into him into that day when he came to the school because if I didn’t.. there’s no telling where I’d be right now.”

“With Megan’s father.” Said Howie.

“Oh yeah, I would…” said Samantha, “Nick’s just…”

“Just…?” asked Howie as Samantha started to smile a little, “Oh I see a smile now…”

“Nick is just… I don’t know why he’s so good to me. Every time I’m down or I’m having a problem, he jumps at the chance to do something about it and try to fix it.” Said Samantha.

“He likes to do that for people.” Said Howie.

“Yeah, but just nobody’s ever done that kind of stuff for me, you know? Yeah my parents did until I told them I was pregnant and they were like ‘See ya?’ but Nick, he’s just I don’t know how to say it…” said Samantha.

“What?” asked Howie as he looked back at the lady giving the massage, “A little futher down, thanks.” As he winked at her and looked back at Samantha, “Just say it Sam.”

“He’s like the big brother I never had.” Said Samantha as Howie laughed.

“Well he’s a moron..” said Howie as Samantha interrupted him.

“No he’s not, yeah he acts like that sometimes, but he’s smart.” Said Samantha.

“Yeah because he picked you for a friend, you keep him somewhat normal even though I don’t think he knows what that is. He lives in a fantasy world and the thinks he can move his magic wand.. wait don’t think like that, you know what I mean, he can move the wand and everything is fixed.” Said Howie.

“I think he’s gay….” Said Samantha as Howie fell off of the massage table, grabbing the towel to put around him, “Howie are you okay?”

“Uh yeah.. yeah.. maybe the massage is over..” said Howie, “Let’s go to the sauna or something, it’s getting hot in here..”

“It’s even hotter in there..” said Samantha as she wrapped the towel around her and they walked out, following the two massagers.
